I finally got the OEM tri-fold tonneau cover for my 2016 Tacoma. The only problem is I got it part by part from my dealership's parts department. I have seen tutorials and videos for installing a complete trip-fold cover on the 2016 Tacoma, but haven't found anything where the whole tonneau is put together and then installed on the Tacoma. Can anyone help?

seems fairly straight forward to me, however I dont have one.

remove the existing side rail caps, install the latch/pegs to the side rails in the holes of the new siderail cap, install the new side rail caps. Install the rear bed center support (under the rear window), and then the top should snap in place, and then put the retainer bolt on the passenger side in place. There probably is more too it than this. but I believe this should get you going

There's also the rubber pieces under the front center cap at each corner.

I don't think I was clear enough, the actual tri-fold cover is in pieces, I have multiple boxes of panels, hinge assemblies, rubber gasket seals, etc. I understand how to install the tri-fold on the truck once the tri-fold itself is put together.

You're the first I've heard of who has bought all the parts to build one. I don't think they were available until relatively recently, so you may well be the first to do this.

I'm sure folks here would be happy to advise with photos of assembled tonneau if you have any specific questions.

The dealer wouldn't install as part of the deal. In the end, it cost me $1,250 to part it out, which is still pricey but better than the initial quote of $2,350.

I think the cost of the OEM new from the dealer is why most people got with an aftermarket trifold or buy OEM used cover. $1250 for it to come in pieces is steep when the more expensive third party tri folds are about $1k. Good luck with your install OP.

When I bought my truck it was $650 MSRP or $579 invoice when ordered with the truck. It could not be ordered as an add-on accessory at any amount of money. For some time parts were undocumented or unavailable, but that seems to have changed.

Is it even being sold other than ordering a collection of parts? Buying stuff by-the-component has always been a pricey way of doing things.

This is a link to the 2016 Factory Service Manual. I saved this link from another thread a few months ago. The manual is 12000 something pages. Download it and then search "tonneau" in the pdf. Somewhere around 6000 pages in you'll start seeing a number of diagrams of various parts and their locations. Hopefully by looking at the diagrams and the mountain of parts you have on hand you'll be able to figure it out... and document it along the way for others. A visit to your dealer to take a few pictures might help too.

Fred Anderson Toyota of Charleston South Carolina quoted me $850 and $920 installed. But I'm kind of in the same boat. I just picked up a cover on craigslist for $150. It is all assembled, but does not have the mounting hardware. Strikers, etc. I think I'm looking at around $200 for the hardware. Do you know what the screw size is for this part?

I'd rather not pay $30 for 12 screws

If you can wait until tomorrow I can pull mine off and take pix of the underside. That's what you need to assemble yours, yes?

No, there are alternatives. I listed them along with @gpb in a thread for a replacement. Have to search for it. M8x53mm sized bolt I think it was. I had pics showing the sizes up against a scale.

Someone gave me a free OEM Tonneau cover yesterday with no parts. I was wondering if you have a list of everything I will need to install? Including parts number and thank you in advance!
