How much left do I need

I want to run 35's on my 05 Tacoma what size lift do I have to have to be able to wheel the truck with 35's. I just don't want to drive on the road.

 

6" or LT. Try out the search bar. Lots of good info around here. Some people have made it work with 3" lifts but lots of cutting into the body will be required and it'll probably still rub.

Wheels with 4.5 BS or less, lots of cutting and hammering. You can fit 35s on a stock height Tacoma.

 

35's on a stock height Taco I'm gonna assume that you refer to a 2 1/2 - 3" lift as " stock "

 

Nope stock height. If you trim enough to fit them at stock height, they won't rub when you cycle the suspension after lifting.

 

Just to be clear that is beyond " trimming " the OP should understand that it involves a CMC, tubbing the firewall, clearancing the roof of the inner fender and cutting your flares and fenders to fully clear lock to lock stuffed 35's. If a newb is asking these questions you need to shoot him straight and be clear, it's not just a trim it is some serious work to make it 100% correct.

 

I said trim enough. If he wants to run 35s he should do the research on what enough is. Or at least keep trimming until it's enough.

35s shouldn't require tubbing. Just trimming and hammering. Fully compressed with a lift should be the same as fully compressed stock.

 

Well that's sporting of ya'... I prefer to give people the whole truth and walk them through the proper way to do things and then if they chose to down a few PBR's and go half cocked at their firewall with a sledge hammer my conscience is clear when they split it and their truck leaks...and then they just start smearing caulking everywhere trying to fix the leak and their truck ends up looking like a pile of hacked up smashed in ugly crap. To each his own I guess...

Oh...and most kits come with a 1/4" to 1/2" bump stop spacer which if you do the math on the ratio with stock length arms landing around 1.86:1 it bumps the truck 1/2" to 1" higher which is not as compressed as stock.

 

According to the thread title. I am going to say you are going to need more right than left.
