i checked with AP before i bought them. they are the 10" length they sell with their packs. I made sure because i wanted to do the Expo pack but after seeing how it sits now i think the standards might be better for now until i can make up my mind on what i'm putting back there. Granted my plans would require expos, but as i was talking with tim, the big question is how long will it be before my "plans" come to fruition and i can afford everything that will weigh it down (rtt, dual swingout, etc.) $$$

EDIT: thinking about it a little more, now that have the lift shackles on there, i'm not sure if this will affect that. And would a flip kit mess with that whole setup?

so...Fox 10", AP standards, toytec lift shackles 1-2" (would this be in addition to the lift the leafs put on there?), and then if i were to put the Shackle flip kit on there, would that mess with the shock lengths needing to be longer or shorter with the current setup? oh man.

Can of worms opened. Anyone got some advice?

Empty bed + camping equipment = Standards
    RTT + Swingout = Expo

I love the standards but with that much weight they'd suck. The Expos will be stiff and sit at about 4" of lift without 400-500 lbs worth of weight off the back.
    Tough call...

    Updated the post..

Yeah but when i will have that 3k is another story. it may be a year before i can afford all that. Also i would need to include, wood, the cooler(s), a kayak potentially (thats another 100lbs)...i mean it just all adds up. Anyone know what the recco weight limit is on the AP standards? i didn't see it on their site.

So I had made a thread years ago asking basically the same questions, I went to look back to find the post from a guy at AP who gave me the spring rates but it's been deleted. I don't think he was supposed to share it. Luckily I had quoted it :D

I believe this is for the 2nd gen, but I can't imagine the 1st gen rates being that much different.

Agreed with Mike. The weight is going to be the deciding factor. From the sounds of it, the Expos would be better in the future, but the amount of time until you get some extra weight back there is important. How long do you want a stiff rear end?

The shackles are adjustable so you could always lower them if needed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the shackles are in addition to the lift the leafs offer.

The flip kit literally just flips the u bolts upside down so should have no effect on your setup. Your shocks don't attach to the plates. At least they don't on my 2nd gen, not 100% of 1st gens.

Still want to make sure you'll have enough shock for this setup. When we did the install of the shackles your shocks were the limiting factor, adding lift won't fix that.

Thoughts? That was a lot for a phone post. Haha

Nothing on the interweb can be deleted

ok, math...so if the standards are still a 3" lift, after 360lbs (thats both sides) it should only sag about 1"
So if i put the shackles at 1" instead of 2 with the leaf pack it would give me 4" with a 3" ride height after 360lbs of load. or do more load and put the ride height on the shackles higher to compensate for the additional sag reducing the potential for rub.

    I concur. Lol.

The lift shackles will add lift to the AP springs just the same as stock leafs.

The Ubolt flip kit doesn't change the ride height or anything. Just gives you one less thing to catch on a rock.

I'd go standards now, and plan to upgrade down the road when the RTT + Swingout come into play. BUT it's your truck not mine, so I'll do my best to answer questions and help where I can :)

Quick fingers or you just annoyed everyone around you with a super long dictation lol.

Yeah, the shackles would be in addition to the lift of the springs. The ride is the same from what AP told me, its just the height. So actually thinking about that, i would have close to 5" lift if the shackles have a minimum of 1" more like 4 and change with the spare. I think i calculated that right. AP noted that the shocks i put on would suffice with the expos unloaded just fine, but would they work with an extra inch? is it even worth it to get longer shocks if ultimately i want to load it down? OR when i do wheel with it it will have load in the bed and just DD it unloaded on street so i'm not flexing things out on a day to day basis with it fully extended.

If you keep the shackles at 2" and run the springs, you'll have less sag but a much stiffer ride. Ideally, with the right setup, sag shouldn't affect your rubbing because your should be able to clear your tire at full bump. You also have to consider how often you run around with 360ibs in your bed. Not very often without a swing out.

Not that anyone will like this idea, but what about removing the shackles and using the Expos? I feel that the shackles are the cause of the issue here. I didnt realize you would be getting leafs so soon when we put them on. Or am I just high? :rasta:

Yeah, i feel like most variables have been addressed. Also that info about the droop for each pack is super helpful.

After seeing the comparison of the shackles, i want to keep the lift ones just based on the beef of the material. the little extra lift i don't think will be a huge issue, but it is something i do want to to take into account.

Yes, more chatting about this later. Can't wait to gtfo of here

Valid point. The materials were a big factor. I'll let you guys know if I can't make it. Started a big job this afternoon and will take awhile.

Anyone interested in a set of Air Lift Ride Control air springs? Kit 59561, purchased a couple years ago. Bags are new warranty replacements (very slow leaks in the old bags, still have those and I'll throw them in). I'll also include a dual air gauge and the mounting plate I made for the passenger side cubby.

Worked great for towing our camper for the past couple years but I just put Dakars on and am switching to a WDH.

    Pm me if interested.
