I've searched the forums and haven't come up with much info on this issue or possible causes. I've been able to reproduce it with ECT on and off, traction control on and off, AC on and off, etc etc. The dealer was able to capture the log files when the issue happened three separate times, but nothing stood out to them when they analyzed them, the logs have been sent off to Toyota for further analysis.

The issue happens when I take off from a stop and give it full throttle. At almost precisely 1500RPM the the engine stutters and looses about 500-800 rpm momentarily then takes off as it should. I've attached two videos showing the issue(pardon the narration). This happens roughly 60-70% of the time and surface condition, ambient temperature, altitude, etc have all been ruled out.

My Tacoma has a build date of 2/2017 and has all the most recent updates and checks performed.

    Any thoughts?

Could be a bad MAF sensor. Have the dealer plug in a scanner with real time data and watch the mass flow rate while accelerating. If the numbers go wonky at 1500 rpm, the sensor is bad.

Could be torque management. Backing the throttle down before the next shift.

My Tundra had that. My 2nd gen had a soft version of it.

After the 1-2 it never did it.

According to your thread manuals do it too, that's why I think it has to do with the quasi VVT transition at WOT; feels almost like turbo lag.

That's just the transmission shifting gears.

Regardless, only seems to happen when you floor it from a stop so just keep it in mind when you do it.

Something to fix? Not sure it can be done due to the nature of this engine but certainly something to be mindful of if you plan to floor it from a standstill.
