Its getting bad, Im almost broke.
I know I've seen a similar post, but could not find it in the search so here goes....1,800 miles on my rig. TRD, LB, Had the TSB fix about 2 weeks ago. Today From a complete stop i mashed the gas to dart out in an intersection, the truck started to move forward and then completely stalled for a fraction of a second, then started to go, then stalled again, and then go and then stalled again. 3x in a row. It will usually do it 2x, but only from a complete stop and only when i mash the gas. Does not matter if ECT is on. Any ideas would be great as my service dept has no heard of this yet. thanks guys.

(UPDATE) SO.....I got my truck back today. Service dept said I have the new updated CPS on my truck as it was a later model 2016. They spoke with Toyota many times today trying to figure out the problem. They ended up resetting one of the computers and then could not duplicate the problem after that. So for now it is fixed. I have a feeling its not the last time it acts up. Will keep you posted if it does it again.

Deathtrap. Happy that you got out of that intersection safely.

So......... it didn't actually stall, but stumbled heavily? As in you didn't lose all power and have to restart?

If you can figure out how to replicate it (in an empty parking lot), take it in and make them go on a ride with you. Make it stumble when traffic is coming at their side.

Just kidding. Just replicate the situation for them so at least they have somewhere to start besides conversation.

Thats so weird. Maybe take it to your service center to get that checked out. Luckily you were able to make it out of the intersection in time and safely.

Not sure how the electronic throttle responds from idle to immediate stomp the pedal but if you're doing that to pass through an intersection you're doing it wrong.

I was able to duplicate the problem with a service tech in my truck. I have an appointment set up. I just figured folks on here could give me a head start on the problem so i could inform him. I appreciate your help.

Perfect. Don't worry about giving him answers. That's what the Toyota certfied training and all their fancy diagnostic tools are for! Along with your warranty. Good for you being able to replicate. Let us know the solution.

Diagnostic tools don't really diagnose anything. Comes down to how good the tech is

I agree the tech is key. But in our geewhiz electronics world, the tools do matter. Although results interpertation matters more, as well as logical path thinking.

Experience in diagnostics matters a lot too. Its just a little harder to get nowadays as more and more operations are driven by ECUs.

If I was guessing I'd say the traction control was cutting in to stop wheel spin.

from personal experience, the diagnostic data is extremely confusing and points away from the crank position sensor as a fault.
cam timing over advanced/retarded for one bank but not the other.
these new computers with the newer OBD2 data has SO MUCH info that it is overwhelming. its difficult to find what you are looking for.
the crank sensor issue is great. problem occurs, 10 codes stored. truck towed in... no problems exist when we get it.
it cooled off and the problem goes away, and all tests point nowhere.
also, when following the diagnostic flow chart, they (corporate tech assistance) want you to rip half the engine apart and verify that it is mechanically still good. then it was finally "ok now check the crank sensor"
in the older 3.5 engine, they were known for exploding valvetrains.. so maybe they were a little curious to see if that old problem had returned after 10 years. lol

In all that foot mashing, is it possible you're on the brake too?

No, its not like that, the engine is running, but its as if it briefly dies and comes back to life

I was thinking this too. If OP is legitimately flooring it traction control could be kicking in

If that were the case, the TC light would kick on in the dash. New bro ko2's on dry asphalt. Guaranteed the tires arent cutting loose.

Lol. You are correct the slip light would come on if TC was doing anything.
