Hey guys! I recently bought a 2017 Tacoma limited and I love everything about it except for one major thing!!! The door chime is absolutely KILLING me. It's basically nails on a chalk board. I'm in and out of my truck all day for work and the consistent "door ajar" chirp is driving me crazy!! Please tell me there is a way to disable, destroy, burn or shoot this thing out of my life!! PLEASE!! Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much! Sorry for the double post, wanted to reach as many people as possible and wasn't sure if a lot of seasoned Tacoma owners look at the "new owners" thread!

I think TechStream should allow you to disable that, it lets you disable the seatbelt chimes. I think some people have had luck with the knock off versions on eBay/Amazon, but I've also heard stories of them infecting you with a virus.

Please don't title your thread "Please Help". Around here that means you are stuck, broke down, something requiring people to come help you out.

If it's like the second gen can take the gauge cluster out and there should be a little speaker on the back. Remove it. Someone would have to confirm that it's still located on the back of the gauge cluster on the 3rd gens. Second gens it is and I removed mine shortly after buying the truck because I can't stand the beeps.

Give me a few minutes to finish lunch and I'll check it from the software side.

There's a thread with instructions on how to remove the speaker, but it also takes off blinker noises as well - if that's a problem for you.

No I can deal with that, it's just the door chime, is really irritating. I'll search for the thread

it was posted here as well. someone did it recently.

You can also just press the little button in the door jam to silence it if you just want it to shut up if you opened the door before turning off the truck.
I'll be asking the dealer to disable it next time I'm in.

I'd just be nervous this could screw up the cluster. and with members reporting needing a new cluster because of trip meter randomly reseting, I feel like this could void warranty in them doing so.

Guess I'll need to look around for a dealer willing to do so, as the dealer I go to is usually a bunch of cunts over doing anything outside of regular maintenance

Thanks for posting this. It's really not that hard to remove the speaker. I think the reason people mess up the cluster is they are using too much heat when removing the speaker or the twisting it is damaging something. If you take your time it won't hurt anything. I do feel your nervousness as when I did mine I looked up how much a new cluster was. Then I was nervous. Then I had a beer and then there was no speaker. :D

I checked. I don't see a software setting via the OBD II interface.

I just checked using that adaptor and app. I didn't see it on my 2017 OR. Remember exactly where the setting was? My adaptor is the Veepeak WIFI version with the iPhone app.
