That is a bad ass rig! I really don't want to cut my fenders like he did but if I could just get 33's under it with minor trimming & no lift that would be great. Maybe even a small body lift, no more than 1"-2".

Great man, I think that I will get as much done on Friday night as I can, spend some time working saturday morning & the rest of the day sucking up to the :ballchain: so that I can be free on Sunday.

Rob if you want did on any of my suspension you have it. I clear 33's with it now.

if you want the AAL for the rear. If I just un-ass some cash I might have 5-33's for sale soon with 75% tread.

Im doing 63's and RUF pack up front.

Awesome man, I will take that AAL for sure, I have a donor truck for some 63" chevys but that will be down the road a bit. What front end set up do you have? I am def. interested in you 33's. Pm me a price when you are ready & hopefully I will have some cash to un-ass myself.

For the front its 2 sets of rear springs combined to make a 5-6 leaf pak.
It will move the axle up about 2 in. I am trying to keep it slung low and chopping the fenders to clear some 37's.

AAL is yours my man. I am probably going to keep my fj60 wheels and I will PM you when I am ready to get rid of the tires.

A few picture updates. I scored a hell of a deal on these brand new axles on Craigslist. I am going to go ahead & install them & keep my originals for trail spares.

A fellow TW buddy hooked me up with this tail gate, thanks a bunch man! It has a couple dents but nothing I can't pop out. It will damn sure keep my beer cooler from falling out on the trail!

This is the finished product on the intake manifold & timing cover, I sprayed them with some dupont clear coat. It made them a little darker than they were right after bead blast, but I think they turned out good.

Thats all for now, my head gasket set & new head bolts should be in tomorrow so it will be time to get this bad boy back together & in the 4runner. I might get it back in by Sunday, maybe next week, just depends on if I run into any hang-ups.

Sure man, drop it off for 2 weeks I will have it running & looking as good as new. I really still wish I could call this engine "rebuilt" but I am really only fixing what is broke. Still plan to rock this engine for a while & track down another one to rebuild completelly on a slower time line. I just can't see letting this project sit at idle while I save money, so if I have to do it over again in a year or 2 then so be it. I want this thing on the trail yesterday!! That being said, I really think that it is going to run good & last a good while.

Yes, it 's mine, At my buddies place right now, I really don't have a place to put it. I would love to sell or trade it for something cool, If you know of anyone that could use it, let me know. I don't know a ton about it, other than that it is between 70 & 76 model fj40. I found a chart to figure it out on another forum yesterday, I just need to get the numbers off of the frame & I will know exactlly what year it is. I have been told that the front diff won't make a good donor to SAS my 4runner.

I'm pretty sure that it is a width issue. The axle is to narrow. I know that it could be made to work, just needs to be modified. I haven't looked into it that much because I have decided that I could long travel the front for less $$ than I could SAS it, plus I think that a long travel 4runner would just plain be cool & different! :D I have been trying to log into yotatech & check the responses on my thread over there but they are offline for some reason. I will let you know as soon as they are back up. Of course, I could let it go cheap enough that you could still afford to modify it if you wanted too. :)

I'm tempted to buy the thing to build a crawler from scratch, but I think I'd better just stay the course I'm on for now.

Mine are def. FJ40 axles, 57" & 56" long & drum brakes all around. It's a damn shame that these are not the most desirable axles, they seem to be in excellent / rust free condition along with the frame. What would be super cool is to buy a fiberglass FJ40 body to stick on this frame.

Here is a quote from my thread on yotatech.

"Its a pre 76 FJ40 frame and axles. Some 75's had drums, some had discs though. They are small patern knuckles (steering arm bolt pattern), not small knuckles. Based on the hubs it is not likey a ball and claw front axle. The front passenger side frame rail will have a vin number stamped in the outside just below and to the rear of the of the tow hook.

Diff ratio is most likely 4:10 but could have been changed at some point.

You could upgrade to minitruck or 60 series knuckles and discs on that axle housing. I would recommend a complete 60 series axle. If you are going to wheel hard it is the way to go. Save you stripping mini truck ring and pinions."

Put me in line next for an engine "freshening up" after Sean.

Sean mine does the same as yours upon start up with a rough idle also included.

A little freshening up never hurt anything.

Sure thing.... all & all, besides the lack of sleep I have been getting from staying in the shop untill wee hours of the morning, I am really enjoying this engine project. Everytime I start something like this it consumes me to the point that I can't stop working on it untill it is done.
