Has anyone had issues with rust on their BAMF grille inserts. Mine is roughly two months old, and almost every screwhead is rusted. I would expect at their price point that this wouldn't be an issue. At least not this soon!

My guess is just the bare metal on the screw rusting

They seemed to have the same powder coating At the grille, but maybe it's from the threads? I just noticed it at the store today. I haven't taken it apart yet.

Thanks for the info. I wish I knew about this when I installed it. Even better, It would be been nice to have some instructions included.

I've had mine on for quite a few months through some heavy rain and have some slight discoloration on a couple screw areas...but nothing that has bled out like yours. I may persue the rubber grommets...but waiting to decide if I'm going to wrap the backplate in camo.

Jerry is cool peeps as are all the other vendors I've done transactions on here with. I'd suggest take it offline with him in PM and he can give you the 411 you need.

And welcome to the forum. :)

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Unfortunately the coating was scratched during the install. The supplied rubber grommets were not used and it's mild steel once you scratch the coating it will rust. The good thing is the powder is repairable with a heat gun so it can be removed and fixed very easily. All you need to do is remove the grille clean off the exposed rust and heat it up with a heat gun. You might need a little powder as well that we can supply. When you install it again use the supplied rubber grommets to help avoid scratching the coating off when installing the bolts.

Here is the back and forth that's started between myself and Jerry in private email. Needless to say, I'll never but another BAMF product again, and I'll be damn sure to spread the word. My emails are in bold.

    Hi,
I bought grille insert for my 17 Tacoma, less than two months ago. There is already rust around the screwheads (see attached pictures). I don't why this is happening at all, let alone this soon
    .

    Hi Andrew
The insert was not installed properly you didn't use the supplied rubber grommets. And when you tightened the bolts you scratched the coating off that's why you have rust there. The powder is repairable with a heat gun you just have to remove the grille and heat up the spots where the coating was removed adding a little powder. Then use the supplied rubber grommets to help avoid the bolts scratching the coating when installing.

Installation instructions would have been helpful Jerry. Thanks

There is a link on the order page the installation instructions are on TacomaWorld

I would have never thought to search Tacoma world to find install instructions for your product. I didn't do d you through there. I haven't spent thousands on your products, but I have purchased a few Thu he including this grille. Instead of putting blame on the consumer, you could just apologize for lack of communication and your lack of included I instructions on a $350 product. Good day sir.

No one takes accountability for their own actions anymore that last email is prime example of it. I'm sorry you feel it's a lack of communication but if you would of just read the page when ordering there is a link to the installation instructions at the bottom of the page you ordered the grille on. Or just maybe contact us if you have a question about one of our products we would of gladly walked you through it.

You have an unhappy customer because YOU didn't include install instructions. YOU have had other complaints about this. But YOU are going to comment on accountability?

Is the instructions being on the page you ordered from not good enough? Seems like you tried to install without instructions and lo and behold, screwed something up.

Yeah I see that now. And no, I didn't notice when I ordered it. After after the 3 1/2 it took to receive the grille, I didn't think to go back to the order page. But it seems pretty reasonable to include some sort of instructions or shit, even a piece of paper to remind you where to find them online if you run the risk of ruining the product you just spent hundreds on

Oh it's another one of those threads.

I can't read or follow instructions when ordering.
    I'm mad at vendor.

Found the problem. Luckily it sounds like BAMF gave you a way to fix the issue so it doesn't get any worse
