What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

My flat tire light flashed and stayed on yesterday. Pulled over to check pressure and it was good. Started the truck, drove a mile and it went out. Today the light flashes for a mile and went out...gremlins I tell you.

 

TPMS sensor going bad possibly??!!

 

I hope not...48K on the truck.

 

Yea my light is on too but tire pressure is good, checked it twice on two different gauges. I'd just assume get rid of the TPMS as I don't really see any benefit of having them. In other news I'm getting my 255/85/16 KM2s installed this weekend!

I have the same one and it gives me codes... have you tried pressing any buttons?(sounds dumb be eh! Have to ask!)

Interesting. Not really sure what the life span of those things are, but I would definitely think it should be longer than that. Not sure how prone to going bad they are though.

 

That means a sensor is bad, someone at a tire shop probably broke it taking it out and taped it back together. That's what happened to mine, it worked for a while afterwards (~1 year) but eventually failed.

 

Most tire shops will replace it while they have the wheel apart for $30. They can test to see exactly which on is bad, but you may decide to replace them all while you're there.

 

Who even has TPMS anymore? That light on my dash is a constant reminder that I'm a man and can see if my tires are low

It tells me the pressure for each tire, temp and also has a voltage monitor for good measure.

I need to put a piece of electrical tape over the stupid blinking light on my dash because it's more of a distraction danger than anything now.

Once you see what you can do, you won't use it only a few times. Or, you work a few side jobs in and it will pay for itself. That's what I did.
