I only say that to be sure the throwout bearing doesnt over or under travel, if that makes sense? lol

We have some cool stuff happening here at a leisurely pace. Old w59 is out and sitting next to the R155. Broke apart the bellhousing and found out the 2rz flywheel and clutch will adapt to the new transmission. Just need to use the R155 throw out bearing. That was easy My cross over bar is in the way. Going to chop that and make a bolt on transmission mount. You can see in the last 2 photos the driver side bracket that goes from the engine block to the bell housing doesn't match. Need to find that whatever you call it at a junk yard or something. Maybe that is a 3rz or 2tr specific part.

Does your lower engine to trans adapter look the same as mine but correct? Also lower section should be threaded and upper a thru hole

I'll check for ya in the AM, but it looks as if my block(from interweb pics) and yours both have the same threaded holes in the relative same spot on the block. Might be worth finding one to rip off and try

Cool. Have a feeling I can find all these parts from a 2nd gen. Nice having the feeling this swap is possible now.

The bell housing of the W59 won't bolt over to the R155?

That is why the R155 exist. It is the bolt on adapter that allows the 4cyl tacoma engine to use an r series. My little bracket might be off because maybe I'm a 5 lug.

It's taking me a little while, but should get there eventually. Might need to grab a new input shaft. Think you just need to pull off the face plate of the transmission to make that swap. Whole thread gearcruncher organized that also applies to R & W series in general. LMK if you need any input shaft measurements from a R155.

Think the input rides over the output. I'll pull my old one apart. Yeah machinist don't want to be pulling stuff apart. Probably need a local transmission place to pull the stuff apart since it is all a press fit usually.

Get relays also if you can. Those things are super expensive from Toyota, but a handful for roughly $5.

Someone on CustomTacos used a lathe to shorten the input shaft by an inch to put a R150f on his 3rz

So the parts hunt has been painful at best. Did some searching around. Found a complete drive shaft for $100. Going to hopefully pick it up this week. The shifter has been a pain. The closest one is 100 miles away and they asking $100 for it. You can get a new one from toyota for under $200.

Another option is I'm thinking I want to get a Hurst shifter and make it short throw. They don't have one for the 2wd r155 transmission, but with some emailing I think I can make it work. I'll just bum the 3d printer at work and develop my own adapter plate. A racing shifter would be better for me anyways.
