Afraid he's right. Air is pulled already pulled from the wheel well, outside the engine compartment. If you look at the quote I posted you'll also see all that's necessary to calculate into the design of such a scoop. I have been wrong and will be again undoubtedly, but I don't think there can be much gains gotten from an intake such as your describing. But, I really do hope you prove me wrong. I'd love for that scoop to do fuckin something.

Like i stated, no benefit whatsoever right now. If and when we get access to tune our trucks then we may say some benefits with the functional scoop at higher rpm

The urd ucon I believe is the most comprehensive so far. The third Gen's have a gadget that can alter shift points. There is also modded valve bodies available to get crisper and custom shift points.
Please let me know if I'm missing something as I'm new to all this tuning stuff, but how would altering the location of the intake net gains? Temperature would not change they would both be getting "outside" air. I believe the scoop location would actual retard the flow of air because of the stream of air going over the hood.

Yeah. 2-3 times a guy (sounding much like this one) comes on here with deft engineering language talking about this very product... then the topic devolved quickly into credibility undermining, name calling.

It was great thread, worthy of digging up if anyone has it.

    Here was the first one:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rksport-hood-w-scoop.468964/

Can't find the second one, I put the crashed plane in it...

Not to add fuel to a fire, but maybe the first gen guys inhabit the second gen thread? Wouldn't know first hand since I really haven't gone into either of those threads. Personally don't get the fascination- maybe when the fourth gen comes out, it will.be clearer...:bananadead:

Hmm hey to each their own, this is my business website www.vicsgarage.us. I have a CNC home shop at my home garage and I just obtained a 3d printer. To each their own. I said I will be doing it atleast for me and thought I would post. I honestly dont need to sell to anyone. If you want to believe it or not it really does not bother me. I will be posting the more i proceed with this project. I am doing it for the hobby not as a business.

It's all good bro. We are just hesitant on newbs that show up with the latest and greatest mod without any pics/ dyno charts/etc. We don't know you from Adam, so you can understand our reluctance. Been around the block a few times with new members like you, which ultimately didn't end well.
Looks like you have a legit shop, curious to see what you come up with. I agree, there won't be much benefit from relocating intake from the fender to the skewp. Even after a tune it will be marginal difference.
One Benifit I do see is getting the intake here higher up. Aka not having to run a snorkel. Obviously not as high.. but I wouldn't want to to be driving in water deeper than my hood anyway.
