Wondering if anyone here has installed the RKSport hood and using the Ram Air capability? If you're not actually using the ram air function I'd really rather not see a post from you. I have priced a factory "TRD Sport" hood and would have to make the scoop functional or purchase the RKSport hood which is actually cheaper with a functioning scoop instead. With a wee bit of engineering the scoop could be electronically controlled to open only when the right pedal was mashed since there's no benefit otherwise. I'd like to see how someone, anyone has incorporated an RKSport hood to be functional, thanks...

How much horsepower and torque increase will this actually provide? I have my serious doubts. We're talking about a midsize 2016 truck not a 1960s muscle car

    First off guys-
You're not driving a performance aircraft, where these concepts are engineered to be useful. This conflict is compounded by, in the same breathe, you'll be installing 285 plus tires, ensuring you'll never get over 70 mph ever again.

If the scoop was functional, the pressure created by it would be insignificant. It's placement on the hood assures that, in the boxy front end design forces a slipstream up near the windshield. You'd need an intake near the laminar/turbulent slipstream line to get any pressures at speed, and if you had that at 70 mph, might be worth 2-3 lbs of pressure if engineered properly.

Guys on here like to make fun of the "skewp", but the truth is, a functioning scoop would only be "a cooler place to suck in air".

So do what you want, but understand the physics behind the thing.

I would never put 285s on this truck. It already lacks low end torque with stock tires and shifts poorly

Let's see, I have two engineering degrees (mech/elec) I posses a pilots license and actually own the aircraft I fly but you're going to tell me something about slipstreams and goodness gracious perhaps even aerodynamics. Yeah somehow I think not. And Kennedy since you're clearly proud of being a Marine, I served our mutual Uncle Sam too for 12 years 1/75th 11B4V (RRD) certainly not a Marine though as we Rangers well....never you mind, thanks for your service.

Now if you had taken the time to actually read the OP you would have easily determined your reply was not requested and you have less than zero clue what you're talking about. A controlled ram air induction system which works on demand has long since been proven to work and work quite well I might add. Also genius, once the scoop is opened you're creating negative air pressure which will draw cooler denser and cleaner air into the air box. Now, I would highly recommend you take a course in reading comprehension if you can pass that maybe we can talk aerodynamics and thermodynamics but don't get too excited to soon, your head might explode.

Oh Kennedy, does a Cirrus SR22T GTS qualify as a performance aircraft? I just want to be sure it is since you appear to know more than the FAA on subject matter.

You get no gain from more free flowing exhaust if you don't allow for more free flowing or "forced" intake. I am not asking for anyone's opinion on hp or torque gain I asked if anyone has made the hood work as ram air. Seriously people can you read and comprehend English?

I'm only interested in proven technical performance facts. Show me the hard numbers.

Not my job to provide you with anything since you offer me nothing but air and virtual popcorn. But, go to TRD USA and look up exhaust and intake for the 3rd gen Taco. I'm reasonably certain the engineers at TRD have an understanding of what information you seek. Add ram air to the TRD intake system and you can do nothing but increase those numbers. The forced air can only be cooler thus denser due to that thing your pal Kennedy referred to called physics. I'm not looking for huge increases that's not what it's about it's about improving even in small increments. Besides this is my Taco not yours, you do what you wish to yours and I'll do as I please to mine. Got it!?!

Not only smart but wealthy too. You see it never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to rile up members of a forum without trolling. I'm not new here so I am familiar. The fact is, Hoarder you only make an ass out of yourself merely confirming the lack of education leading to poor reading comprehension that many of you suffer. Now, do you have anything useful to add, do you own a RKSport hood, are you using it as designed for ram air? Do you understand what I just said or do I.....need.....to.....say......it......slower......for......you?

And there's probably a reason the Challenger Hellcat has ram air intakes in the headlights instead of the hood, turbulent air isn't very effective at providing consistent airflow via a small opening
