I have a 2007 Tacoma 4x4, about a month ago my 4x4 light would not stop blinking. The truck had over 60,000 miles when this happned and my extended warranty covered it. Now approximately 500 miles later it has happened again. The Toyota dealer is refusing to pay for it saying the hose broke on the actuator and blameing it on something damaging it. I questioned them and they tell me no skid plates etc. that cover the part are missing and I know the truck has not been aboused. It has been used as a 4x4 some, mud and sand (we live in Florida) no rocks or salt water.

Has anyone else had to deal with this problem on their Tacoma.

    Thanks

    AJ

Do you have a skid plate on the truck? Are they saying it is because you don't? I was also under the impression that if the dealer fixes something that is pre-exhisting and it breaks due to them not fixing the original problem after warranty ends it is still on them.

Yea, I'm pretty pissed and I have not picked up the truck yet. The service manager has not called me back but the lady who I'm working with agrees with me for what it is worth. She recommend I call toyota corporate but you can't get through to them these days with all of the recall issues.

I have a couple of issues with this, why did it go over 60,000 before it went out the first time? Now it has gone bad again, approx 500 miles.

Plus, now I have a truck even if I get it repaired may go out again. Like I told the lady, I bought a 4x4 to drive through the mud sometimes.

I can certainly understand what you mean. I have wheeled the shit out of mine on multiple occasions. Do you have a skid plate on your truck or is it missing? If its not there then I suppose they are correct as it would leave the actuator exposed.

Mine went at 16k and I do no wheeling other than dirt backroads. Its been fine since then and now have 42k on the odo but this is one of the reasons I bought the extended warranty before my 3/36 went out.

I'm with Luke, seems to me, the part malfunctioned that they replaced. I hope your call to TMCC helps the cause, this doesn't make sense in light of them fixing it the first time. Its a stretch saying its abuse :notsure:

Wish you the best in getting it fix on their dime! Stealers!

I have the extended warranty to 100,000 miles. However, it is not through Toyota but one they recommened at the time. It went out on January 7th with 63,000 miles on it the first time. The extended warrant paid in full. Now is has gone out on March 15th with 65,013 miles. That is only 2013 miles since the new one. The warranty will not pay because they say Toyota should warranty it, the part has a one year warranty.

Met with the Service manager and the Customer Care manager today for over an hour. The Service manager said the dealer will not pay because the line came off and it is full of mud and water////It's a truck, I told the guy and I live where you can't go anywhere without riding down a dirt road and puddles. keep in mind they agree the steel cover is over it with no damage.

Long Story, I have moved on to the Toyota 800 number seeking satisfaction.

By the way, the Service Manager has never owned a 4x4.

My Hose was clogged so i cleaned that out.
I took out the ADD completely out, had about 1/4 of cup of water in it.
So i took it part and had buddy solder couple contact points. Re-greased the gears and installed back in and bingo no light.

lost some oil so i had to buy some new diff fluid.
