What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I was just talking about this yesterday. A lot of work there. At least they put down some spray in deadener from the factory.

 

A buddy of mine (4Runner) and I did part of the WA Backcountry Discovery Route today, from Ellensberg to Leavenworth. Absolutely beautiful country and a good 'starter' trail. We're now planning on doing the other sections over the coming weekends. If you have a BDR in your state, I highly recommend it.

 

It is my goal that you see very little silver by the end of the day!

 

Great job, what are you doing on firewall with that fiber insulation that's glued on? Too much work for me.

 

It ain't glued.. it's just laying there.. I was able to slide material under it all the way to the dash

 

What product are you using on the floor? Pad or mat or both? Keep us updated. Gonna be a quiet ride.

I installed the 3/1 Low Range as well. Riding on 285/70/17 with no rubbing and no trimming at all. Great rid. You will need a front end alignment trust me.

 

I got some Rigid Industry spot lights im gonna mount on my hood. Anyone mount a switch panel in their 3rd gens? Im having trouble trying to figure out where to mount a panel with a couple switches on em...

 

Thanks man! Yeah I elected to to wet sand with 400 grit. I'm not sure if it was necessary or not, but I hit em with primer too. And if you use a really fine wet sand between coats, like a 1500 grit it really makes your job look that much better.

 

This weekend I got the shovel and axe mounted on the bed rails, and removed the "Off Road" stickers on the bed sides.

Well, only part of this is what I did with my Tacoma, but I raced in my first road rally race with a friend of mine, then drove up to the cabin to relax. Ended up getting 4th place overall and 1st in the novice division!

I actually did have to modify the mounting hardware a bit. The bottom plates that come with the tent weren't wide enough to fit around the "aero" bars so I had to fabricate my own. I found the steel bar at Home Depot and it really wasn't overly complicated to cut and drill. I then shot a little black paint on and mounted the tent with no trouble.

 

Definitely the sanding is necessary. I've used that same paint before and it is tough as nails. As long as you do as you did and rough the wheel up and degreaser before painting it will last a very long time

 

Finally decided to debadge the whole truck aside from my matte black bed Decals. It's hot outside haha.

 

Both pad and mat. Both in a double layer!
