by regular do you mean a 5 lugger? there are lift kits for 5 luggers but im not sure exactly how much it lifts the truck. a prerunner is a 4x2 on the 4x4 chassis but it still have 6 lug nuts

im kinda confused when you say "lift it as a pre runner"

do you mean lift it to the same height? if so then the kit is made by readylift i think

however this kit is only for 5 luggers. if your truck has 6 lug nuts, then well there are alot more possibilites

i remember thinking the same thing. In addition to the suspension differences, and the smaller wheels, the regular tacoma doesn't have fender flares. Pre-runners do. I guess if you added a lift, got larger tires, and added color matched fender flares, you'd be pretty close...

This should really be moved to the 4 cylinder forum.

There are several differences between the 5 lug 2wd and the prerunner. They've mentioned most of them already. The rear end is another big difference that you won't notice until you lift it and put big tires on it. You'd have to regear to 4.11 and if you want any additional traction, a LSD or locker.

There are a couple other lift options for the 5 lug. Your choices are spacers (Readylift, Fat Bob's), TC UCA mid travel (requires SAW or Icon coilovers), or TC long travel ($$$). That seems to be about it.

Check out the 4cyl forum for more info about lifting 5 lugs.

yeah so not worth it lifting it to the same height!
I guess that is why prerunners cost more!

Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
just long travel the truck and you will get your added height, and you will run circles around any other lifted trucks that are running direct replacement coilovers...
