His title just seems like clickbait to me; With a title like that I was expecting reliability upgrades or modifications to heavier-duty parts, not a routine maintenance tutorial. And since clickbait bugs me, I was less tolerant once I got into the article, lol.

Agreed, and if he knew Toyota's so well he could have gotten an Aisin timing belt kit with everything except the cam and crank seals from rockauto, for half of the cost of that one he got from the dealer. Definitely seemed a little long winded for the end result being just do your maintenance and it won't cost $2k to do everything at once

 

He seems pretty infatuated with oem or nothing. If I had to take the coilovers apart and was already dropping that coin I would opt to throw in a lift.

 

I know he was, but Denso and Aisin make a vast majority of the OE parts. So if you buy an Aisin or Denso part it will be the same as OE, but will cost about half the price due to not having Toyota on it and then the dealers marking up the cost

No problem. Denso, NGK, Aisin, NSK are OE part making companies, and then any aftermarket belts I recommend Dayco and aftermarket gaskets I always get Fel-Pro

Looks like maybe a new timing chain

 

Crankshaft seal was leaking oil. Replace the timing belt and harmonic balancer while i was in there. That was like 2 years ago.

 

That was last year. New chain and guides ,water pump and oil pump. Guides broke and they were in the oil pan, so just changed everything I could while I was in there.

The chain guides is what liberated me from my 93. They broke and it was a matter of time before the chain at through the cover. I failed inspection for a LBJ and it was pre-house so I had nowhere to work on it in December.

I miss that truck like crazy sometimes . The funny thing is I always viewed that truck as the equivalent of the girl you wanted to date in high school but for some reason or other it never worked out. Then you get the chance to finally go out with the girl and it's a blast but you know it won't last, but you're happy it happened. I had wanted one since I was like 15 but they were too pricey for me in HS. Ended up moving out into my apartment and getting a second parking space so the hunt was on.

The irony was that the day I sold the truck, I went to the convenience store to pick up soda since I was grabbing a pizza and the cashier was legit that girl for me. The irony was strong.

Anybody know what type of glue to use to put back the weathertech visors? The glue on them dried out
