Decided to buy something to hold me over while I'm waiting on my Clazzio leather seat covers. My Beaver Step from Smittybilt arrived late yesterday evening from Amazon Prime (I'm talking delivery at 11:30 PM which was very weird). This thing is cleaverly disguised as a passive aggressive parking defense measure in the form of a bed access step.

did you replace the throttle body gasket? I'm still debating if I should get one when I'll clean it... But by asking I guess I answer my own question lol

I'm only about a mile from there north off Cooper. They told me when I got in that they had the same tires in stock and even had the same promotions going that discounttiredirect was running for the 4th.

    I was like, :notsure:

I'd LOVE to be able to do the underhood cleaning, but I would have to drive 25 miles to do it, and I bet using the spray on a hot engine is NOT a good idea!

Changed front diff and transfer case oil. Had been waiting for a nice day because I had a stripped front diff drain plug and knew I would spend some time getting it out. Read a lot of great threads about knocking it loose and also ordered a new plug.

    Got everything ready:

The more I work on my truck the more effieicnt I get. Having the right tools all ready to go speeds things up, but also makes me less stressed when I run into a stuck bolt or something. I'm also acquiring more tools with each project I take on which is really nice to have the right tools for the job in the future.

Got the truck nice and level:
    IMG_6785.jpg
Again learning how to do things properly. When I changed the rear diff oil I didn't have the truck perfectly level which resulted in a waste of some gear oil. I actually used a level on the frame and got the exact amount in each gear box.

Got the front diff drain plug:

My biggest fear as a home mechanic is a stuck or broken bolt. When I first went to change this a while back I found the 10mm hex was pretty stripped out. This time I was prepared. I started with a 55torx, then went to a chisel and hammer, which got it out. When I tapped the chisel and felt the plug turn I felt like I had leveled up in the home mechanic world! I was prepared to use heat if need be.

The only snafu I had was the transfer case oil came shooting out at me and got all over the drive way.

I also loved the hand pump, it made this so easy and didn't create a mess.

Cleaned everything up with some brake cleaner.

I feel good about the standard maintanence now. All that is left is the transmission which I'm still not sure which route I'm going to go. Leaning towards drain and fill.

Every time I do maintenance on my truck in the garage there's always an emergency auto parts store trip to follow. Happened today when changing my oil.

I'm starting to have less of those...at the expense of having my own small auto parts store in my garage!

Haven't seen one installed there. But most peeps use the black coin holder to the right. Cut it out and place it there.

If you decide to not go that route and want something easy, here's what I did. It's not in anyones way and was very easy to insall.
