Did that offend you lol? There's been a lot of activity and interest in his product and he's not responded to any of it yet. Like everyone through the years that come along promising to crack the Toyota ECU. It always ends in disappointment. I won't hold my breath this time either.

lol that's when you know someone's interested.

I love my Tacoma and the ease of working on it, but sometimes I wish I could be running a small block w/ a standalone and everything on systems that are easy to mod and an all mechanical drivetrain. I think that's the direction my first gen is headed in for the long haul, but a tune would have been nice to go along with my p&p job and headers / filter upgrade.

I talked to Gadget and he didn't really have much to say about upgrades for my 5vz rebuild. What in particular did he say to you that is important for someone building an engine that's going to stay na? Thanks!

Agreed, say you're interested and move on. If OP bounces back cool, if not no time wasted monitoring the thread.

Unless you're going for 18psi plus with a turbo, stay stock. Rods are insanely expensive but they'd be the first thing I'd upgrade since I've broken 2 engine and it was connecting rods both times.

Probably put a trans go valve body kit in but the trans is fine too.

Thank you. I don't keep up on the 3rd gen forum and I'm pretty sure most other guys in here don't as well.

To be fair, starting this thread for an engine that ran through 9+ model years and then saying later that it's only for 2 is kind of like opening a sandwich shop with a banner up front saying you can build your own sandwich and then having people get inside only to find out that they can only choose from peanut butter and jelly. Then leaving the brand new employees (or unpaid acquaintances) to deal with all of the customer complaints. OP might want to update the title or first post.

Good to know the 3rd gens are able to get some better tuning since it sounds like the shift points are in crappy places on the power curve. I did at least glean that from the little I've read on there :)

Man I need to get into the "tuning" business. Those guys are dishing out $765 for 2 mpg and better shift points.

Mob mentality on TW lacks any patience whatsoever....company creates a thread simply gauging interest in a product that's barely (if at all) on the horizon and people bring out the pitchforks after their question goes unanswered for 24 hours, lol.

Actually one guy said one thing and that was pretty much it. Everyone else is discussing the changes in ecu's, the viability of such a product and joking around.

True it just struck a chord with a common trend I see here on TW...its really not an issue on this (1st gen) forum but elsewhere.

I wasnt sure if this would only benefit autos with shift patterns or if it would offer any benefits to a manual trans 04 as well (performance wise)...I'm not very familiar with the tune they did for 3rd gens but it seemed it was aimed at auto trans trucks. At any rate I have the 7th injector too so it would also depend on if it would work in conjunction with that unit for me as well

I do not need any tuning for my 2.7 (with distributor) - it runs great as is, but I'd love to get rid of all this evap system shit. No cars in Europe have that crap. I already have many ideas for the spot under the hood where the charcoal canister is :D

To be fair, Europe also has terrible air quality compared to us in general...so much so that they're passing a law to completely get rid of gasoline/diesel vehicles by 2050. At least that's what I heard on NPR yesterday.
