Hello all, has anyone experience engine sputtering when starting your vehicle? For the last week I've experienced it pretty regularly when the vehicle has sat for over an hour. Some are short occurrences like in the videos below, and others quite a bit longer. Once the truck warms up it will usually crank without issue.

    17 TRDOR Auto

Update: Dealership said after software update they couldn't replicate again; Video below a few hours later

Final Update: Seem to have fixed the problem by installing new injectors. Find the parts list below.

Thanks for the heads up on your post. I'm going to try and get by the dealership this week to see what they have to say about it. Just rolled 10K miles and started to hesitate shortly after. Reading your thread it looks like people have tried several fixes without much success. I hope it's not one of those deals where the dealer can't diagnose the problem.

Third gen problems aside, it looks like you're not getting any fuel...

This whole thing reminds me of the common problem the 6.0 power stroke engines have when they crank for a really long time when warm.
Apples to oranges but that originates from faulty fuel system components.

That's not normal? Mine does it all the time. Figured it's just another Turd gen problem aka "normal for the vehicle"

CKP is one of the things that can cause this...

Since it's a cold start problem, I'm going to go with a leak in the EVAP causing unmetered air to enter.

That sounds like a fueling problem. Pump, pressure regulator, injectors. EVAP system should have multiple solenoids that would all have to fail at once to create an inlet for unmetered air. Given the very slow nature of the start, sounds like fuel is trickling in. Our HPFP is only working with the cams rotating so it's not building enough pressure to start, so the pump in the tank should be priming the system. That one may be bad.

The indication that it happens after sitting for an hour is also indicative of it being problematic after fuel pressure has been bled from the system.
