But those sites aren't correct, so don't rely on them. I mean, look at what it says for CA then look it up in the vehicle code. Front windows can have ZERO tint per the law here.

To the OP, just buy some property in NV, register it there, and tint it as dark as you like.

as dumb as it sounds thats exactly true, just try not to stand out and you will have less run ins with the law.. And be especially careful when driving in small towns, or places where cops are known to hang out, driving down a main street late at night with no other cars around is also a good way to get pulled over, usually cops are bored as shit and just looking for any little thing to get you for

Do you know any cops? Have them fill out the form saying you removed it and your all good. Or pay the fee, i wouldn't remove the tint. Tint never comes off easily or tack free in my experiences

Actually, I live in Nevada and we have restrictions too. They are not as bad as California though. Thanks for the info. That guide is wrong.

Been doing it for close to 6 years in all my vehicles and haven't had a problem. I run 5% all the way around and 35% is legal in AZ. I just keep an open eye for cops and roll 'em down every time I pass them, even when it's cold as sh*t!! hahaha

The police in cali just don't like any tint on the front windows. Thats why I never tinted my front windows. Not worth the citation.

You guys with illegal tint that would ask, and expect your cop buddies to sign off on the fix-it ticket without first removing the tint are dicks.

You're trying to avoid a fine by having your "buddy" falsify a legal document. Your buddy can lose his job and be criminally charged if he does this and is discovered. Of course, if he hasn't got the balls or integrity to tell you that he won't falsely sign your fix-it ticket, he/she isn't much of a cop anyway.

If you are driving an illegally equipped vehicle, it's pretty ballsy and selfish to ask a buddy to put his career on the line, just so you can continue to drive an illegally equipped vehicle. WTF? Just pay the fine.

    First off:
    :brianr:

Secondly - i bought it with this tint already on it. My dad (who is a cop) says my tint is just fine. He doesn't feel it is illegal. It is up to the digression of the officer if it is illegal or not. All a cop would do is write it off and i pay my $25 fine.. or not write it off and pay $150.. So.. I'd rather pay $25.

You made a choice to illegally equip your rig and you got caught. Take your lumps and live on.

Your laws say your tint is too dark. In reality- Not too dark at all. Sucks that Cali laws are so bad...but they are what they are. Pay up or fix it.

again.. bought it with that tint (so i figured it would be legal). been driving it since early 2007 with no one ever pulling me over.. and my dad who is a cop says its fine. Then one cop decided it was too dark and gave me a fixit. I disagree.. which is why i made this poll to see what others thought. If i can get away with paying $25 rather than $150... id rather pay $25. Make sense?
