Started noticing a popping sound on my 2016 TRD OFF 4x4 when I turn my wheel more than 3/4th of a full turn then pops again when I go over a pump almost like resetting something. I'm on 3" of lift, 285 tires, FN wheels w/ 4" back spacing 0 offset, all-pro UCA, 20k miles and mild off roading. I have CMC, hammered pinch weld and trimmed fenders. Have any 3rd gen have any front end popping issues yet? Currently working through the following checks.

    Possible Issues:
    LCA - Retorqued
    Lug nut - Retorqued
    CVs - (No leaks)
    Wheel Bearing
    Tie Rod
    LCA joint
    Skid Plate

Are you maybe rubbing the 285s?
    Wheel specs?
    CMC?

Can you tell if it's one side or the other in relation to the direction of the turn?

It wasn't side specific from what I could tell, maybe central... which is why Im having such a hard time diagnosing the issues when the wifey slowly drove and turned the truck last night. The noise only happens when the wheels turn and "reset" after hitting a bump... so I'm thinking maybe the skid bolts are loose and the frame is twisting under the turns.

    Central?
    Steering rack mounts?
    Intermediate steering shaft rag joint?
    Sway bar bushings?

Body mounts could be the culprit.

Running Fox 2.5 but I'll check if anything is catching the coils but it hasn't done this the previous 20k miles. I removed the sway bar when I installed the coilovers. I feel like shocks wouldnt be the issues since it only happens when I turn the wheels hard.
I've heard of the body mount bushing at one point. How would I be able to isolate the body mount bushing?

Just closing out this thread. Jacked the truck up and no loose movements of the tire in any direction. Pulled apart driver front body mount bushing saw some rubber filings but all in all the bushing was still intact. Put everything back together and noticed my 2 piece skid plate were not loose but could be tighten more. After a few test turns 90% of the popping was gone only under extreme turning throttle does it slightly pop.

I started having a popping sound two mths ago and it progressive got louder in what I thought was both the front end and rear end, right side. It happened a lot when I would just pull into my driveway, go over a manhole cover, or a bumb in the road. Im sure it was doing it all the time but with the lower speeds one has less road noise. Took it in to the dealer today 8-12-17. Adjusted the rubber gromments at the right corner of the hood and bam. So far no more popping. I tried bouncing up and down on the bed, tried to shake the truck sideways, could not duplicate it unless I was driving. So far so good. My truck is a 2016 Tacoma TRD. May not be the same issue but it helps to eliminate all possibilities.

Pretty sure the 3rd Gens aren't supposed to be cranked that high.

3" lift = 2" net lift for 3rd gens is pretty standard for tacomas.
