What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I did watch it , and I was amazed. I thought at first maybe the paint would effect the fins. I was also wondering if the black would attract more heat from the sun.

 

I haven't seen any change in temp or performance since I did it. As far as I know, or can tell, it hasn't been affected in anyway. I also have an Ultragauge, and have the temp on it, and before and after didn't change.

 

That's awesome. So you just remove your grill and go to town with the paint?

 

Yeah, pretty much. You could remove the headlights as well, but those are a bitch to do and then put back.

All I did was remove the grill, then covered the surrounding area (headlights, bumper, etc) with plastic, taped it so it wouldn't fly away/move, and BAM!

 

I'm liking this and that VHT paint is some bad ass shit.

 

So whats up we going to make it a sticky and add it to cheap/free mods list?

 

I did it for the look, since when I got the Pro grill you could see the radiator area a bit more (maybe it was just me), plus that's when I started getting the idea to go with the "blacked out" look. Definitely glad I did it.

 

Not a bad idea right there. Who takes care of that?

Making the paiting the radiator black a sticky, or possibly add it to the free/cheap mods thread.

 

I'll have to try that since I now have the mesh grille. Love to be able to put a TW sticker in the back window as well, but...

It'll look better, and less front end damage if you accidently bump into something...

 

I think he means getting too much paint on the fins. If you get a lot of paint built up you will eventually have heating/cooling issues as the air flow would be restricted.

 

The GIF alone sold me on it. LOL! Working on the bull bar thing already, just waiting for a PM...

If you just do one or two "coats", and spray from a bit far away, it should be fine. That's what I did.

 

One or two of undercoating should do the trick!

AC Radio knobs, Grid it organizer, and now on to blacking out behind the grille. Hard to keep up with you guys!

I'll have my front end apart in a few weeks for some Mobtown goodness so maybe I'll tackle painting the radiator support then.
