Make sure to do this with a cold engine. Less chance of cross threading one and you can get a more accurate torque on them too.

Here's my $0.02 on this.

A lot of folks don't bother with this but don't forget the importance of each spark plugs "proper torque" setting once installed.
Also add just a dab of "anti-seize" on each side of the spark plugs thread prior to installing.

First hand tighten each one snug when installing then follow through with the correct amount of torque, which if your engine is a 1GR-FE V6 (4.0) then the proper torque value would be the following:

Torque Value:

15 ft-lbs. (or 20 N-m)

Spark Plugs recommended:

DENSO: K20HR-U11

NGK:

$6 LFR6C-11 V-Power Spark Plug, Pack of 1

LFR6C-11

Gap:

0.039 to 0.043 in.

Thanks for the info! Actually just borrow a torque wrench from a coworker this morning so that I could be sure of the torque!

 

I've never bothered with antiseize on plugs. But torque is important. I set my t-wrench at 20 ft lbs and back it off a bit.

While that may be true.....for some people the dealer might be too far away or other reasons that an alternative source might be easier

 

I may end up going to get them at the dealership. I'm not too far from one.

Not an expert here but this is how I do it......

A common problem that individuals make when using anti-seize is that they smother or cover the entire thread of the spark plug which is wrong or the incorrect way of applying it.

When applying anti-seize on a spark plug just a small "dab" or "dot" should be applied to each side of the thread of each spark plug prior to installing the spark plug back inside.

Then to start off (to prevent cross threading) use your hand first to start if off (of course with the spark plug socket and extension) then hand tighten until a snug fit is felt.

Once that is done then follow up with the proper torque for each spark plug.

I had great experience with the factory DENSO copper plugs and NGK's, BUT I don't mind changing them as required. I do agree with Tex-Tac that most forget about the anti-seize and proper torque. Some good write ups in the DIY forums

Denso themselves say no anti seize. it is electrically bad. bad for the coil bad for spark.

but hey what does Denso know ? they only manufacture...lets see, almost every critical engine
sensor and electrical system on the motor...yeah what do they know

@luco1029 I would run what the manual recommends that would be your fourth selection.
I understand the purpose of long life but just speaking in a manner of instance here what if it was too long before the spark plugs were removed and it were to be rusted into place.
I change mine every 30000 miles is of recommended and I have found rust on mine but then again I off-road and I wash my engine bay.
And you don't need to run your iridium it's just an extra expense that is not necessary, Trying to save $

 

Yeah I've never ran iridiums in anything. I usually buy the cheapest plug and move on. But I'm just a little more queer about my taco then anything else so I just wanted to get some insight from fellow members. Thanks man!
