so, ive been renting my current apartment for about 4 years now. this summer, we have been getting a lot more heavy rain falls. and now this is happening. I never noticed it any other year. at the bottom of the driveway theres a "drain" which was full of crap, so I lifted the grate and dug down about 6 inches, but its more a just a catch basin then anything else. the drain that's in the garage is raised up a little bit so not much water actually goes into it lol again I think its more of a catch basin then anything else lol it takes at least a week for the garage to finally dry, if we don't get another monsoon in the mean time.

Wtf and they leave it like that?! If you are not careful you couls lose good stuff just because they are too lazy to fix/make a good drain...

    my thought exactly lol

I had mentioned it to my landlord before I had dug out the crap in the "drain". its still doing it so I will mention it to him again haha but you know landlords. they will take the rent money but wont reinvest it into what's making them the money. My concern is if the water starts to leak thru the walls it will end up flooding part of my kitchen and living room. which he should care about cuz it will ruin the floors and drywall lol

it only started happening this year lol never noticed it before haha I make sure I don't leave anything good on the ground, tho my brand new jack stands and jack ended up seeing some water haha oops ill be talking to my landlord about this later on today and hopefully he doesn't just shrug it off lol if so ill be looking for a new place. and I'm his best tenant, I cut the grass and fix things around the building for free haha I mean, he hasn't raised my rent in 4 years cuz I do those things but still

I bet if you send him the photos and mention potential damage to the unit, he'll address it. He's dumb not too! The drain may just be plugged, or it may be more serious and it is a French drain that needs some major refurbishment.

yeah I mentioned damage last time to him and he seemed like he wanted to address it. I told him I would clean the mud out of the trough thingy at the bottom of the lane way and give it a try, well turns out it couldn't keep up with the down poor we just had haha but seeming and doing are two different things haha I don't know much about these types of drainage systems but when I dug it out, didn't seem like there were any holes for the water to drain out of the trough. I find it kind of surprising, I would think you would want to drain the water away and not just hope you have a big enough hole to take all the water hahah ill be sending him the pictures that's for sure.

Check the ends of the trough. Maybe even use a screw driver to probe them. It could be so full of junk you might not find them otherwise.

Wish I lived closer. I'd run over and help you try to diagnose it. I enjoy that kind of stuff.
