Good even coat of primer and lights coats of paint and make sure to prep the wheels real well. I can do them if you want. Just pm me. It would take me about a day to do them.

They were worth it for me -- took them out a few days ago and they did great on rock, been waiting for it to rain enough for a nice mud test..

That's a whole new truck! Looks good.

Honestly, Light Racing will handle anything we have any business doing in our trucks just fine. They're quiet and no maintenance.

Total Chaos has a little more travel but are noisy and need maintenance. $200 for an extra 1/2" of travel is pretty duty. They do have the sweet factor though.

I go back and forth on which ones to get. I think if I went the expensive route, I'd get the Camburgs. They have a 1.25" uni-ball over the TC's 1" ball. That's even more travel.

I'd like to get uni-ball UCA's but I'll probably just get LR's too. They're already expensive enough. UCA's are really a rip off. The part is nothing fancy.

Greg, the LR's are a fixed part? "travel", is referring to the caster and camber allowed -- something like articulation?

I'm not sure I totally understand your questions. By travel I mean how far up and down the suspension can travel. The words travel, flex, and articulation are used interchangeably by most although some say they are not all the same thing. When you put on uniball UCA's, you have to jack your truck up by the frame up higher to get the tire off the ground because the UCA's allow the suspension to sag lower. The uniball can move farther off its centerline than a stock ball joint can. This is good off road because the more the suspension travels, the more likely you're going to have all of your tires on the ground on rough terrain.

Caster and camber are separate alignment adjustments. Caster is the angle which the wheels turn in comparison to a line perpendicular from the road. It's easy to see on a bicycle. If the forks were perpendicular to the ground, the wheel would turn true left and right. Bikes have positive caster though. The forks are angled back slightly so that when you turn the bars the wheel turns left and right but the top of the tire slightly drops from one side to the other too. A chopper has a lot of positive caster. When you turn the bars on one of those the top of the tire flops back and forth as much if not more than it turns left or right. That's why choppers can't turn sharp. A little positive caster helps the vehicle track straight. When Tacomas get lifted, they run out of that caster that helps them drive straight so they wander at highway speeds. Camber is just when you look at the truck from the front, do your tires look like this \ /, this | |, or this / \. The wrong camber mainly just causes premature tire wear. When you lift your truck you run out of adjustment on the stock UCA's especially in caster. The uniball types build in a couple extra caster degrees. The LR's have adjustable caster. Both types correct the problem.

Sorry I just wrote a book that you probably didn't want to read.

Wow. Schools in session... I think I just learned some stuff.
and my old lady thinks i just waste my time on these here forum interwebs.

after Uca install alignment is necessary. I ve been reading up on it, and I think Ive gone back to this post 5 times cause I always forget...
    Heres the #'s (for a 2.5-3" lift with 265/70/17 [apparently = 31.7x10.4 tires)
there is all different #'s for 33-35" tires

    Camber 0
    Caster 2.4- 2.5:burnrubber:
    Toe 0
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd...alignment.html
anyway it sounds hard to get exact by all the posts,
but UCAs seem to be crucial!!

prepare to take it in the wallet:rolleyes:
or as my buddy from P school used to say
    "BOHICA...!"
...Bend over here it comes again....

I can do it for you if you'd like. just let me know. The thing is I don't have any extra wheels and tires. so I would kinda need your truck. Unless you got some.
