incase anyone was wondering, think i bought 5 intakes in my lifetime for different cars. used AEM, injen, cobb... they all pretty much do the same. didnt want to bump an old thread but wanted to let people know there is another intake for people to choose from. just purchased injen in black wrinkle. comes with blue filter that isnt just flat on top of the intake. sucks air from top as well. overall im very happy, took about 45 minutes to install cause it was getting little dark. everything fits perfectly and in all honesty, im a fan of the open box filters rather than an enclosed box. its similar to the k&n short ram intake. sounds awesome with the trd pro exhaust. loud rumble and nice hissing sucking noises if i get on her down low in the rpm. just wanted yall to know theres a new option! drive safe yall. snaps, forgot to say i bought it on autoanything.com for 230$ free shipping. never was a fan to pay alot for a intake so good option for those who want to try without spending 500 or whatever

 

Max, couldn't find the injen on the autoanything site. only the replacement filters. am i looking in the wrong place? i was considereing the k&n but don't know the difference in the k&n 63 series and 77 series.

 

I think someone did do a dyno on their 3rd gen. Just made some more peak hp and lost low end torque. Basically, people already bitch about no low end torque and an intake will just make that worse.

i found it through google. i dont feel any difference in low end but feels and sounds a hella lot better than before. this is just for folks who want to try it out, not trying to persuade anyone. BTW that is for wrinkle black even though the picture shows polished. i checked with part number from injen's website.

 

Thanks for the link. i put 2017 tacoma and the injen didn't show up but when i put 2016, it did. Guess they didn't update it on their website yet that it's the same model. I tried to order the k&n's but the site says they can't ship to California for some reason. Maybe emissions regulations?

is the stock CAI for the TRD Sport Model and up only?

 

Has anyone dynoed the TRD cai. Want to know if it will reduce low end torque.

 

Stock intakes are same across the models.... all the 3.5 tacomas have same stock intakes
All new 4clyl have same stock intakes

The stock may be a cold air intake, but it is still more restrictive than the aftermarket ones available.

The aftermarket CAI are every bit as effective as the hood scoop on the Tacoma Sport.

 

wait you say agreed but, hood scoop = non-effective so aftermarket CAI = non-effective?

 

I'd really like to see at least one member duct their CAI into their TRD Sport hood scoop. Doesn't any bro out there Ram Air?
