Having a weird thunk from the rear end since installing the Dakar HD pack. I just torqued the bolts to a higher spec (85) and it didnt cure the issue so now I'm adding my carrier bearing drop kit. Wanted to check my leaf pack are properly installed as I did all the work myself 20170901_172520.jpg

To follow up to my own post already, I think the clink is the brake pads shifting. I recall reading about that before. After braking the first time after forward changing to reverse or visa versa it happens. Driveline vibrations are still somewhat present at 10-15 but it feels better than it did after adding the drop kit

How much weight do you have on them. They look wavy in the pic like theres a lot of weight. Or just the photo?

I don't see how I couldve messed the process up. Besides putting the AALs in, which you can see because they have the yellow spacer instead of a black one. Arrows on the packs point forward and the + pack is driver side and 0 pack is passenger side.

From what I can see then after looking at new pics and reading other thread they look ok. Shackles and everything tight? Those are some good looking hd leafs.

one issue that my friend had when we installed his pack was that we had put the bolt in with threads toward the bed and it was rubbing the inside when he would go over bumps. can't see how yours are oriented but just a thought

Actually if that's possible he has the rear drivers side towards the bed and passenger side towards the fender.:notsure:

I'll take a look real quick and see. I kept the factory orientation when reinstalling

I've got the newer light duty Dakars and in the center of the pack they're perfectly flat. Not sure why that hump would appear in the middle of yours right above the axle... but it looks like you have everything installed correctly.

I helped a guy put springs in once and I remember them being made for specific sides. Something about the gas tank side being a bit stiffer? So if you put them on the wrong way the truck leaned.

I retract my previous statement, I just had a closer look at my leaf packs from the same angle of your picture and mine also have a slight hump in the middle, this is with zero load.

Its very slight but its there. The leafs have been on just over a month.

    Edit: Some more angles

Yea I looked that up when installing. The packs had different signs on them, one had a plus and I put that one driver side. The one with a zero I put passenger side

Looks very similar, it's weird because I'm used to seeing the packs have an arch while unloaded but these remain flat with only the weight of my cap
