I get that. Use my tree strap around any tree and rock I winch off of. Snatch block for seriously stuck rigs or broken rigs. Guess I'm trying to say not to overthink recoveries. I'm all for keeping our public lands open. Not trying to get more off roading areas closed.

 

How much is my front end going to sag after putting an ARB bumper with a Warn winch on? I guess I might have to upgrade the springs, but I don't want a shit tonne of lift.

 

Funny thing about federal trails here in northern California. I was going to go to work for Feather falls casino to run a timberpro machine. The machine has a masticating head and a brush pile on it. The tribe asked me to be their operator and told me they have contracts with forest service to close 29 roads by the end of next year. That is only in California.

 

There's not a chance in hell I'd work for a tribe as a non-member the BS level is too high

Sure. With you there. In the situation you described above. I'd have just hooked a strap up and tugged you over. Faster then a winch. I avoid used a winch at all costs. Usually just a pain.

For the times I have. It's been for truck on the edge of cliffs that you can't just pull forward so snatch is need to get to the rear as well. Or on tight corners where you can pull the right way anyways. Or anchoring a truck to a tree to try and pull out a snowed in vehicle.

I get making it simple. But always need to have all the right gear for all the situations to make the easy and simple 0lan to ensure people's safety and hopefully the rigs and environments.

Which is why I don't agree with the statement that that gear is useless and a waste of money.

How do I get this off its the fuel line it won't come off. Tryna pull the engine.

 

Me neither. There's so much slop in my 215k steering rack and bushings, my truck is all over the place anyway.

 

Mini writeup of my adventures.

Had to replace the clutch pedal bushings again, and as this was the third time it was extremely straight forward and I knew what to expect.

Because it was the third time, I decided to try brass bushings instead of plastic. Big improvement and I highly recommend it. The spring itself had worn through the stamped steel bracket so some welding was required. I used washers that were a thousandth smaller then the O.D. of the bushing. I had the bushings on ice so when the washers were welded on, I just dropped the bushings in with the bracket still very hot from the welding and when the temperatures equalised, it was like I planned it. Worked well.

I do not like the center bushing, but it took me three trys to get this one to work. It still has a crack in it, however a I ran out of material and cool Arizona morning weather. I initially wanted to solder or braze it in, but I used oil impregnated bushings, and lets not forget that steel/brass dont like to be brazed (by amateurs)

I also had to use 1/4 I.D. bushings because of cost. They are too big. The correct size is 7/32 I.D. the cost difference is bout 14 dollars. Each.

I ditched that big clutch spring in the first week of owning my truck and haven't missed it once in two years!

 

Unbolted the rack from the green truck almost all the way today and man were those bushings hammered.

Also for anybody that wants them, I have a spare set of Energy Rack bushings, ordered twice by accident.

 

Yah

 

Went for a drive today.
