Like I said you can buy a battery and mail the receipt to Toyota for reimbursement, its in the Manual. Just buy the battery after the local dealers service hours that way it is considered an emergency.

Is this true? I assume it would have to be the same model as came from factory...
Doubt corporate is going to reimburse me for a Northstar...

Yes, its in the Manual. I replaced a Heater Core in a car many years ago and got a check back after mailing the receipt.

No, it does not have to be Factory, the part has to be bad and its supposed to be during an emergency when the dealer is closed.

Pour a bit of Coca Cola on the battery terminals first. Even if they look tight, tighten them. Then, if you don't get a good charge, replace your battery yourself and, as you were lucky on your other vehicle you aren't on this one. Pretty sure they even out lol. Good luck.

Have you checked the water level of the battery?

Optima Batteries are bullet proof- that's what I'm getting and from Amazon is a no brainer.

My '11 Tundra used to eat the battery every 2 years or less. Typically, batteries last me about 5 in other vehicles. I guess we'll see how the Tacoma does on that score.

I've never had anything but good luck with Optimas. I know general opinion of them has declined over the years, but I'm still a fan.

My optima lasted 4 years on the dot. On par with other batteries imo.

Actually, Walmart Batteries aren't so bad. Had one in an old Ranger for years. So if you are going to get stuck . . .

your warranty should be good up to 36/3yrs, try them.
Heat and humidity kills batteries but you may get 5 yrs or more by trickle charging, checking the water level once a month. Today's vehicles don't make it any easier on them either with so many active electronics even after shutdown.
The best instrument I've found to predict early failure and battery health status is the old fashion battery hydrometer, I check mine once a month before startup first thing in the morning to greatly reduce nasty surprises.

    https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...ias=aps&field-keywords=otc+battery+hydrometer

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

24F has more cold cranking amps than 27F. 27F stores more energy so if your leaving lights or other electronics on without running the truck. Or so it was explained to me
I would say if you live somewhere really cold you may want the the 24F for the cold cranking amps.
I put in a 27F and it's 1/2" wider. It still fit under the hold down and is nice and secure

Seems like I did it after 2 years on my '11 Taco. Local NTB said that batteries only last 2 years...3 at most?!! I think I had one that lasted all through the 90's. Maybe some of the 80's too?

I have just seen to many defective batteries come out of Walmart. What sold me on Interstate batteries is a friend that worked at a farm service that spread lime on fields. They tried several different battery name brands in there spreader trucks and the rough bouncing out in the fields would bust all batteries tried but Interstate batteries. So therefor I prefer them over any other battery.
