Picked up a 2010 2.7 4X4 single cab and it feels anemic, slow, heavy... I start looking at fuel efficiency numbers and realize there is so little difference now between V6 and the 4 on paper...

WHAT HAVE I DONE??? someone tell me why I didn't make a huge mistake.

(my '96 in the same config wasn't fast, but felt a lot faster than this 2010)

It's got the bench seat... the one thing I love is the bench seat. In a single cab I could lie down and take a nap yesterday... but god it's slow... I'm sure it'll grow on me even though it feels slower than the 96

The 4 banger is a GREAT little motor. Like others have said, keep your foot on the skinny pedal and keep those revs up! It will get up and go if you really need it to. I have a 4cyl 5spd access cab with 221000 miles and its been superb. Never a problem and i drive the shit out of it. I have about 750lbs constant load on mine, i live in the hill country, and i still enjoy driving it! Check out some of the 4cylinder builds. Here are a couple to get you started. Theyre a great platform and if you want more power, you can always regear or add a URD supercharger which will double the rear wheel hp and make it a little quicker than a stock v6!

Literally just thought about your reg cab! Great looking truck!! I wish my 4banger was a reg cab almost everyday even though the space in the access cab is nice

Says the guy with the S&W performance center revolver! You rock! I have one I love. :) So can you really do significant performance mods to that 2.7 and keep it reliable as a daily driver?

Sell it and get a v6..... if you think it's underpowered now, imagine if you actually had stuff in the bed. Sell it before it's too late.

How many miles on on the truck when you picked it up? What wheels and tires are on it? Edit: On the highway mine runs with the big dogs all day, every day. Getting this Bitch up to speed that's another story

Taurus makes good guns, same machining from the old Smith stuff... that revolver looks as nice as my performance center for probably 1/3 the price. I just want more low end power and, well... more power period. No set number but would be nice to be able to pass something.
