With the recent flooding we have experienced in FL I'm wondering if anything needs to be done if I have driving through water up to my floor board? Is everything pretty well sealed up? Should I drain any fluids?

    Thanks

Oh wow, I wondered about the rear diff.... I didn't realize it wasn't sealed. So looking at the breather mod the stock breather will let water in?

Not nessarily the breather but what you have is a spring loaded vent type deal, it can create a vacuum when you enter water and pull water in through the axle and such.
It's just a matter of relocating up higher on the truck. And in case your wondering the front breathers they are already up high in your engine bay.
Go through the thread I linked.

Its a vent, not a breather. Asked the techs at toyota when I was in, so yes it creates a vacuum.
I relocated all of them even higher. They're all now beside the battery, front/rear diff, trans, tcase.

I have the ARB breather kit, but then again I also go off road and do water crossings pretty deep. Snorkel is on the list.

@Joe23 Do you have pics of the install? I have the same ARB Breather kit and was wondering how others have positioned it. Are any other parts needed for the install?

If you have the time and parts relocating the breather on the rear diff is a good idea if you plan on submerging the rear diff often.

That said I wouldn't be too worried about driving through deep water caused by the recent flooding if you aren't able to get it done. Your truck is new and your axle seals should still be in great shape, so the odds of creating a vacuum in your rear diff strong enough to pull water past the seals is pretty small.

But regardless if you are driving through lots of deep water often draining/changing fluids isn't a bad decision. Never know if something isn't sealed quite correctly and letting water in.

Do you have pics or can provide direction on where the stock breather locations are for the front diff, trans, and tcase?
    Thanks in advance!

ya its a pain in the fuckin ass lol.

Toyota uses 1/4" hosing where the ARB one uses 8mm (5/16") tubing.

Also there are a total of seven lines needed to connect to a four port part.
    Mine was done as follows.

Electrical breathers on trans/tcase joined together with a Y fitting and then added to ARB
Rear diff+Front diff joined together and put to one port (there are two for the front diff, one is a vent in, other is vent out as per OEM, I Y'd these together as well)
T case breather to one port
    trans breather to one port

The two front diff ones are by the frame near the cat.
The other ones are by the battery

Give me a minute I'll go take pics and update of what mine looks like now to a degree. Sorry but I am not dropping my skids lol.

I only had the front skid on when the breathers were done and that one has to be dropped as well. But I currently have all of them on and they are a PITA to do so ya.

    Installed next to brake reservoir.
Red is t case and front diff electronics
Above is the rear and front diff, the other two lines are t case and trans
20170908_145936.jpg Factory ones I tapped into
20170908_145918.jpg Y Fitting used to join two electrical breathers
20170908_145928.jpgLooking down beside fuse box some of the OEM ones are around here.
20170908_150015.jpgT fitting under the red hose is for the two diffs, joined then go to the ARB port
    20170908_145947.jpgT case electronics breather location
20170908_150034.jpgLooking up into driver fender you can see the red hose where I ran up to the engine bay
20170908_150249.jpgDriver side behind the front cab mount, can see the T case hose and the hose coming from rear diff
    20170908_150238.jpg

Most of the fittings were from Princess Auto (very similar to Harbor Freight)
I actually just picked up a 100ft bundle of 8mm tubing from a pneumatics and hydraulics hose supplier. Was hard to find 8mm stuff from princess auto so went to a supplier. Wasn't the cheapest stuff but oh well.

I'll be needing to extend the rear one some more when I do my lift.

Never did the mod, but luckily Toyota installed an automatic seeping differential that bleeds out all the excess moisture. ;)
