    Howzit everybody,
I am stuck in a decision to lift my truck or not. I have read some posts here saying anything above a 3in lift is usually not necessary and usually for looks? what are some PROs and CONs about getting a 6in lift? Majority of my off-roading will be on sandy, sand/rock areas. Wont be off roading daily, just weekends where i decide to fish at a spot that requires off roading. I also won't be doing any crazy mountain things.

If it's just sand and rock, a 3" is more than enough lift.

6"+ is really just for looks.

That and I believe the only way to achieve that is a drop bracket lift, which is not easily reversible and involves a bunch of cutting.

6" you're going to need new wheels and tires too. Factor that in cost wise.

If you have a 2WD, you can get away with a spindle lift kit as those are only for 2WD applications.

I'm waiting on an 18 and in same situation. I'm either going with icon with king set up or going 6 in BDS and replace rear block with custom springs. My main goal is can I get a daily driver at 80 miles a day commute that rides as good as stock. Then after 400 miles of hyw driving during week then I put another 250 to 300 on weekends with half being city. Out of those weekend miles a couple weekends a month I pull a bass boat under 4k and also go down some muddy trails and places to go fishing in remote ponds and river areas. Then winter being able to still go to work with snow in ground because I run a trucking company and must go in. So mine is more for looks because reality is these trucks for where I go the off road version would handle easy but I want the looks too if possible. Heck it just makes me feel better. Hell I'm 55 now and always lifted my trucks for the right stance.

I don't have any problems off roading with my 6" lift.

I think it rides great IMO. I put 4.88s in it and improved the takeoff response with the 35s. I had the front coil spacers for a really long time and just recently put coil overs up front and it rides even smoother. It could be me but I don't think that when I had the spacers up front that it rode much different than stock.

I've heard of bent frames with bracket lifts, but it probably depends on how hard you push it. I figured if I ever wanted more than the roughly 2.5" the stock configuration allows I'd just do an SAS instead.
