I wish we had cool camping places like that around here. My wife and I are just breaking into the overlanding idea and getting out camping but we can't leave the campgrounds right now for health reasons. Hopefully next year we can get out on our own

Oh we are I've just had alot in the way here lately. Like figuring out my other truck wouldn't work and having to strip it, buy another one, and build it of which I'm not done yet. Before we can get out on our own I need to change the camper over to a dual battery set up and a solar panel. Then simple things like a shower and pottie. It'll happen sooner than later

I got the idea from your trailer thread.

How does it attach to the trailer?

I have a set of 4 shock cord poles I can cut and use to parts. I was thinking of sewing a channel on one side of my awning so I could slip the shock cord pole into. This would stiffen up and make the one side rigid. Then this side could sit over the back side of the topper. Id just have to find a good way to secure it to the truck

Took my 3 month old daughter camping for the first time, she loved it and slept 8 1/2 hours in the tent.

That's awesome! If I know all it took to get my son to sleep all night when he was an infant was to go camping. I would have been camping a lot.

It's really made to attach over like the back of a truck cap or like a van or something and will attach right to that. It worked fine that way on the TM but would contact the windw on the side hatch of the tiger moth so I made up a little uick adapter out PVC that I just slide through the basket from side to side and attach that way her look on pg 7 of the trailer page

Mine is extremely solid in the wind. Highly recommend it. Endured heavy rain over Labor day weekend at a music festival.IMG_3584.jpg

Thanks. Helps a lil but still not showing exactly what Im looking for. None of the pictures of it online do either unfortunately.

Is there a bar along the side that supports it where it sits over what ever its sitting over? Or is it just cut so it wraps around what every its sitting over?

No bar it's just cut to fit around it. I had to make the pvc holder because the camper is more narrow than a vehicle

You could remove the back window of your best top or just unzip and flip it over then the awning will just set over the back of your best top and the 2 strings will go down and clip t the fender well. After you pu up the 2 poles then you can retighten the 2 strings if needed. Once it's up and ou have it secured it's pretty damn stable

I have quite a bit going on this weekend but bear with me and I'll try to remember and I'll set it up off my bet top and take some pics. That should really let you see how it'll work.

    Welp....

Figured it out. All it took was 3 loops sewn to the awning, a shock cord pole trimmed to fit, and 4 bungees.

I added 3 loops to the one side of the awning and made a shock cord pole to sit in the loops. The awning has the ability to sit on the back of the Supertop to add cover over the tailgate and be mounted off the side of the roof rack.

The awning sits in place and used 4 bungee cords to keep in secure.

The shock cord pole sits on the load bars, I have a pin at the end of each load bar (that I use to keep my canoe from falling off the sides when I load it solo) that the awning catches on so it doesnt slide off.

This set up sure as hell beats the big metal bar I used to use across the load bars.

And it all fits in this bag -

The shock cord pole is made from the up right poles for the canopy. I stuck 2 of them together then trimmed them to fit. I replaced them with telescoping poles from Cabelas with are much more stable.

    Just the basics
Are those vertical poles steel or aluminum?
