factory radio is starting to take a dump on me.

This one seems to work out pretty well for my 07 Sport.

Yes. No cutting/splicing of any factory wiring. The head unit actually calls for a splice into the speed sensor, and E-brake wires. I did neither, and the unit works with no issues.

The E-brake is for the DVD enable (which I never use anyway), but there is a software bypass for it anyway. The speed sensor wire is for the Nav. It came up with a warning on initial start up, saying it didn't see the speed sensor, but that hasn't come up since, and all of my functionality works. When I was looking up info for install, I remember a guy saying the unit uses the speed sensor for the times when it loses sat reception, so it can still calculate arrival times.

On a side note, if you go with this setup, I mounted my Nav antenna on top of the head unit (beneath the dash), and have had no reception issues.

Thanks. Not sure if I'd get the Nav.

As for steering wheel controls look at maestro rr and the vehicle specific wire harness. All needed is to follow their diagram for connecting all wires. Setup on computer and plug into truck. No issues with my maestro rr and pioneer 8201. Merta dash kit from crutchfield is ok but the scosche dash kit looks and fits a ton better.

Agreed with @drop4205 Get the Scosche dash kit, not the Metra. I had the Metra and it was terrible. Didn't hold itself into the dash properly. The Scosche is much better.

I have a Kenwood DDX9702S (new model is the DDX9703s) that I love. I used the Maestro RR to allow gauge displays. The RR replaces your steering wheel control unit (Usually an AWSC-1 or Maestro SW).

The 9702s is a 7" DDIN with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
I love the amount of settings you have for audio, especially since I have a Kicker Hideaway sub, Alpine PowerPack 4ch amp powering 4 Kicker KS speakers. Definitely recommend it!

As for harnesses, this is what was used on my 2013 Base (No Entune)
    Dash Kit:
    Metra 95-8235CHG
    Vehicle Harness: Metra 70-1761
USB Harness: Metra AX-TOYUSB-2 (Retains factory USB plug near power outlets)
SW Controls: iDataLink Maestro RR (You may use the Maestro SW if you don't want gauges, or radio doesn't support it)

    Speaker sizes are as follows:
Front: 6x9 (requires the Metra 82-8146 to mount) I used the Kicker KS 3-Way coax
Rear: 6.5 (Requires the Metra 82-8148 to mount) I used the Kicker KS65 components
Tweeters: 3.5 - left these plugged in for now.

Where did you get the black accent pieces for the vents and dials?

I have a 2013 base model, so my surrounds are black by default.
