    Howdy!
Any idea if a TRD PRO skid plate will bolt up to a TRD Sport 4x4? I saw conflicting information on a few sites that said it will only fit TRD OFF ROAD. Anyone know?

I'm under the impression that it will fit all the 3rd gen tacos, but I can not confirm or deny.

The Pro skid looks great on our trucks but will you see it on a non lifted truck?

Another thing to mention is that you will have to remove the lower plastic air dam/lip that comes on the sport. It unbolts easily and the Offroad or Pro don't even come with it in the first place, since there is a better approach angle/ground clearance without it. There's some debate about whether the air dam does anything at all but after multiple comparison tests, I consistently notice a 1 mpg fuel economy hit above 70mph

I’m a little late with a picture , but here it is on my 2018 Sport. All the bolts were captured to the plate with the spacers . Took about 6 minutes to install. The 4 forward mounting bolts doesn’t use the same mounting holes as the factory “ splash guard “ use .
Even came with the plastic red lettering
inlay. That’s a chunk of metal hanging there . Glad I put it on .

Yep, fits the Sport perfectly with the air dam removed. I haven't seen any MPG lose with the dam off but I also haven't done much 70+ high way driving. Around town and normal freeway in DFW (60-65) same as before.

I removed that front air dam within 15 minutes after I got the truck home from the dealers . Im not one to worry much about gas mileage simply because it’s a truck . It is what it is . (I get the gas mileage with the corolla). I put a 2” lift on mine and still have the stock wheel and tire on it . Now I did look at the trucks mileage computer a couple time just out of curiosity and it claims an average of 21.4 on a couple highway trips . I went for a drive after I installed the skid plate and took a look at mpg as I scrolled through the menue . It was averaging 22.9 mpg . Huh ! Thats the first I’ve seen it that high . Coincidence or what , I’m not sure. Eithe way , it looks good under there .

I just installed one on my Sport last week. One thing I'd recommend as part of the install is to run a tap through the back 2 holes. The holes are threaded from the factory but not used on the Sport so dirt and crud can accumulate in the holes. A tap will clean all that out.

It sounds like you're getting some better aerodynamics from skid plates.

Good call on chasing those threads. Would never have thought of that. I'd like to install skid plates, not because I do any heavy off roading. Some trail riding here an there, but the fact that I can protect that precious underbelly even from crap on the highway. I'm in a 2017 TRD sport and just staring at that plastic fuel tank makes me nervous sometimes. Underbelly protection is really neglected. If it takes you minutes to install these things, it can take you minutes to remove them for maintenance. A cheap amount of time but sound protection in my opinion.

This isn’t the greatest pic but it’s from afar. I can take more in the am if you want. Let me know. I zoomed in a bit and took a screen shot of my pic.
