Just got my weathertech mats in today and the mat for the access cab doesn't fit. Did they send the wrong mats, or have others had similar results?

I would call them but they are closed until Monday.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry Mike, on the road (wife driving)-I was in a hurry as we had plans tonight so I didn't have time to take a pic.

It was not narrow enough to fit between the consoles-not sure if I'm giving a great description. Seemed to fit fine in front of the seats but since it's a one piece the consoles prevented it from lying flat. It wasn't close either, appeared a good 3 inches too wide at that point. Didn't know if removing the rear console and placing it underneath and then trying to re-affix the console is an option?

If it is the back seat mat, the back seat storage box is what makes it not fit. check the weather tech group buy threads in buy/sell for a couple of fixes. It appears you can either take off the storage box and drill holes in the mat screws and reinstall the box or maybe loosen the storage box screws and slide the mat under it. I will confirm next weekend. If it is the fronts, i have no suggestion.

The weathertechs rear mat for the access cab won't fit because of the rear console. I just cut around it to make it fit, it took 5 min, or you can deal with unbting the rear console and then put it back in. Try searching for that. I don't have any pics sry, but I'd recommend just cutting

What ever you do, DO NOT CUT THE REAR LINERS.

It's a simple mod to mount the rear liners to a new access cab.

There is a set of pictures out there in one of the TacomaWorld or ToyotaNation posts. I recall there was a brown access cab rear liner picture showing the need to drill 3 mounting holes for the rear center console. The pictures are worth a 1000 words on how to install the rear liner on a new access cab.

But without time to find that picture for you, here's a 100+ words summary.

3 bolts secure the rear center console. Remove it with a 10mm socket (easier with long ratchet extension).

Lay down the rear liners over the steel plate holding rear console.

There are 2 screw holes and 1 center alignment hole (for the console center locator point) on the steel plate.

Locate the 3 holes (lift the liner slightly to find precisely the locations) and mark the center of the 3 holes with a sharpie marker.

Take the rear floor liners back out drill a small pilot hole. Then progressively drill out to 3/8"-1/2" holes for the bolts to go through.

Put the liners back on to align with the steel plate and remount the rear center console.

It's that easy. About 30 minutes if you take your time.

I installed my WeatherTechs yesterday in my 2010 Access Cab. I removed the console, installed the liners, and mounted the console back on top of the liners. It was very easy and came out GREAT. However, I had four 10mm bolts, not three...

I did a similar thing, but I am OCD and wanted all four bolts to go back in so I had to drill holes into the mat. I think I may post pictures of the install if anyone is interested.

I measured the dimensions, traced the lines with a dry erase marker and cut with scissors. It took about 5 minutes. 3 months later it is still holding up and looks fine. Either way will work, but here are some pics of the finished product.

morphius: That is exactly what I did with mine worked great. After seeing the mat that was cut in this thread though, I think if/when I have to remove mine I will trace around it and cut it out to fit for easier installation/removal in the future!

put the mats in today. The rear had 4 screws in the console. I just screwed in the top two and left the bottom two out as it was tight. Next time when i clean it i'll probably do the cut around the console for easier removal.

I am not sure why anyone would cut into their mats to fit it around the console, especially when we are paying so much for them. If you ever get enough water/dirt in there, the first place its going to go is straight on the carpet because of the low corner. It may be more of a pain to remove the mat, but putting it under the console is a better way to go.

Ok, let me ask the obvious question. Why can't Weathertech make rear mats that fit AC cabs with a rear console?? If they do then I would return and get the correct set. Permanently affixing them to the rear, or having to remove something to take them out, kind of defeats part of the reason we buy these matts?

because the tacoma trucks did not have a rear console until 2009. maybe someone should call weathertech and let them know that the design has changed for 2009 so they should stop advertising that they will fit properly until they change the design for the rear mats, which probably isnt very hard for them to do. Glad I opted for no rear mat, I have amps on the floor so it wouldnt fit, even if it could, I wouldnt want to remove the rear console everytime I clean. I like to remove my mats and pressure wash them so they stay looking brand new.

A valid point, no doubt....But would result in the mats costing a little more.

Yeah it would require weathertech to make multiple mats for the same truck, which they probably would not do. But I could be wrong.

I have had mine under the console since I put them in last year, and have yet to remove it. I usually just vacuum on and around it. I also don't have many people in back seat either. Of course everyone is not going to be in the same situation.

I dont think it would result in them costing more, changing the design is probably very easy to do since its all done on computers. they probably dont even know the design has changed. when the tacoma changed from 1st gen to 2nd gen they had to make a total new design but it does not cost more for the 2nd gen sets. someone really should call or or at least email weathertech to let them know, the tacoma is going to have that rear console for a few more years (until 2013) so they really need to change it or its false advertising on there part. someone should seww or however the fuk you spell it
