treimche's 2017 Cement TRD Pro Tacoma thread

I mostly lurk around on here but wanted to share some of the things I have done to my new Tacoma. I picked it up New Year's Eve after about a month of waiting. Been playing with and driving it since. I just came from a 2001 Tundra with almost 300K miles, so a brand new vehicle has been a hell of a treat (my very first new vehicle purchase besides a motorcycle)!

I won't be doing anything major to the Tacoma, as I don't want to hack it up at all (at least until the warranty expires). Anyway, on with the pics and some of the stuff I have done.

Love that color, MT or Auto?

 

Within 48 hours of ownership I dug in. Had to install remote start/alarm, radar detector, and tonneau cover ASAP. I install everything myself as I run a small automotive accessory shop. So I did the Compustar Slice Jr. remotes and Drone Mobile paired with the DC2-AS controller. Didn't take any pics of my install since I wasn't done with all the under dash wiring.

Truxedo Titanium tonneau cover.

Had a little bit of the "whale tail" to it when it was brand new but that has since flattened out.

I got an Expedition cargo carrier due to a promo Truxedo was running at the time, free with the purchase of a Titanium tonneau cover. They said it doesn't fit in the bed of the Tacoma. I proved them wrong. It is the perfect size for the box. The brackets just had to be slightly modified in order to work. Drill 1 more hole in each bracket and grind down the end of the bracket so it clears the tailgate. Very high quality and easily removable.




Pics of the simple mods to the brackets in order to fit them nicely. Added a longer bolt and spacer to the rear mounting point where an OEM bolt was in the bed.

 

Auto. Figured since its basically a DD and the MT is very hard to find, auto is good for me. My car is MT for when I want to bang gears.

 

Next up was HIDs. They are DDM Tuning Plus CANBUS 5500K 35 watt for hi and low beams. These are super nice quality and look awesome.



Stock looks horrible. Should have just came with matching lights in the first place.

 

Next up: Lexus card style key, TIS Techstream and cable for programming, and tint.

I can't stand the huge clunky OEM key fob so the Lexus card key was totally worth it to me.

Windows tinted the right way. Door panels are removed, windows pulled out of the doors, tint runs all the way to the top edge, gets trimmed back on the front and rear edges, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN results.

Nice Truck! I never saw that key card fob. Where can i get one for my truck?

 

You have to get it from Toyota or Lexus. Theres a thread on here explaining exactly the car the key card is from so you can have it programmed to your Tacoma.

 

I went with the diamondback cover and added rails they totally add to the truck your truck looks awesome I had to add sumo springs to the rear this truck sags if you add any weight to it


how do you like the Pro

 

Never knew that either. Gotta look into this. Learn so much on TW.

 

I love it. Towed my S2000 on a trailer to a track day event a couple hours away and the thing squats bad with a trailer behind. If I tow more I'll probably get some air bags for the rear so I can stiffen it up for towing, but maintain that amazing ride otherwise.

Well I run a small aftermarket automotive business so I do most of my own work and all of my own mods.

I have another wheel/tire setup that I want to use but the front needs to be lifted some since the tires are 305/70/16. They came off my old Tundra which they fit great on, but the Tacoma is smaller so there's not much room for tires that big.

 

Oh you're in Fargo. I'm not too far away in Bemidji, kid goes to school at UND. It's not TM Autosports is it? They've done some work for me here in town.

 

275 70 16 pro comp at 1 inch body lift front and rear and sumo springs in the rear to comp for fridge tent cover and tools

Are those 275/70R16 or 265/75R16? I ask because I'll likely go with that tire, but Pro Comp's site doesn't show a 275/70 - only a 265/75 and 285/75:
