Floor Jack and Jack Stand Recommendations?***NOT A HI-LIFT

    Yes, I used the search function first, but could not find a definitive answer to my question.

    Looking for recommendations on a floor jack and jack stands.
    Also, what is the proper weight rating to buy for the weight of our trucks?
    I currently have a 4-ton bottle jack, but would like something a little easier to use for projects.
    Also would appreciate correct protocol for where to jack and place jack stands.
    First project I have to tackle once purchase is changing out body mount bushings.

    Appreciate any input.

    EDIT***Hi-Lift is not an option. Please dont make this thread a hi-lift debate, just looking for honest and good minded recommendations.

    your owners manual would be great help for where to lift from.

    I have a few different things I use.
    $100 Powerbuilt 3 Ton, Bottle Jack and Jack Stands in One, 6000 Pound All-in-One Car Lift, Heavy Duty Vehicle Unijack, 640912

    Which is pretty good. If I'm doing single location type work I just use this. You can lock it in as a stand so its safe to work on. Can be used under teh rear axle from either side or from the front using the owners manual suggested places

    I also have all the safejack attachments like the extension, axle attachment and flat base that I use with both a 6ton bottle jack and have an adaptor to use it with the factory toyota jack. So i keep it in the truck if needed.

    I have two 3ton aluminum stands i got from princess auto (basically canadian harbour freight)
    and just got a 3 ton floor jack from costco they had for $119, has an extension part that nets you 28inches of lift (reduced to 2.5tons)
    3ton is really better to use, but the 2.5 is enough if you're doing corners of the truck. Under the rear diff I use the 3ton option of the floor jack.

    except it won't if he doesn't have sliders or an aftermarket bumper.

    Great advice if you have sliders and aftermarket bumpers. If not there are no jack points on a stock Tacoma.

    EDIT: Sorry, I was beaten to it!

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    Well I can safely say not to get a low profile race jack.

    Last car had to go on 3"ramps to get that jack under it. On my lowly little 5 lugger it will barely get the tire off the ground.

    I use this low profile jack from harbor freight. It fit under my wife's old Mini, and would easily get my 2nd gen with 255s with a 2.5" lift off the ground. I'll probably get another this year during Black Friday sales.

    he won't have any from factory...
    and I'm under the impression he wants to change tires and what not so lifting off the tire isn't a great option. Besides hi lifts are so unstable and dangerous. I try to use one as little as possible. Although yes they do come in handy.

    Anything made by Hein-Werner will last you a lifetime. The cylinders are rebuildable too so it should be the last jack you ever buy. When my HF low pro jack wears out, that's what I'm getting
