I've done this and I think it's worth it. So much easier to see out back compared to the stock bulbs.

Actually just did it on Saturday. Took all about 15 mins. Real easy and totally worth it. I have a bestop on my ride and it has the tinted back window, that is the main reason why I did this. Now I don't only have to use my side mirrors, I can see fine looking through my rear view. Although, I found it kinda tough to find the bulbs.

haha so true, i've been looking in auto zone for the past few months and just today did they finally stock 2 bulbs. My only problem is the thin connection going into the glass in the bulb came loose from the wide piece that you cut from the plug. what can i do to fix that?

I have a bunch of H3 bulbs left over from my Hellas which fit nicely into the slot, just have to give them a dab of silicone and wire them in.

6% Tint all around, Toyota all-weather floor mats, Toyota bed extender and skid plate, Python 991 remote-start alarm, oem cruise control and class III hitch were all installed within a couple months. I then installed Icon c/o's and Icon's 3-leaf aal with 17x9" GA9's and 285/70/17 Goodyear Duratrac's. The DRL mod was done, as was a custom rack setup similar to the org. cross bars. Blacked out headlights bought online, and a BOSS 1500 under-seat sub installed along with a Pioneer double-din DVD player

What do you have to do to the 886 bulbs to modify them to fit? Anybody have any pics?

I'm planing on dropping 55w bulbs in and just splicing the leads into the stock wiring with splice connectors, nothing fancy. Maybe I'll pop them in tonight...

I may be wrong, but I think that the 886 bulbs required cutting the bulb off the base, then it popped into the stock housing.

why not just dremel the housing a little bigger and run a small silicone bead around the bulb?

I just tried the 886 bulbs on my '11 DC LB & it blew the #8 position fuse (10 amp) under the instrument panel. Would putting a larger amp fuse hurt anything? Any suggestions on which size? thanks

Just did this and it made a big difference.I broke a bulb trying to cut the leads with wire cutters so I used a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel and it worked great.

Did this mod to mine about 10 months ago, no issues and the brightness is unbelievable. I just cut the bulb off at the plastic base with a good pair of side cutters.
