Write up is basically on the marketplace (linked below), a user made a plug and play harness that overrides for anytime nav/rear camera and allows the HU to display RCA AV inputs.. so all I had to do was remove the HU from dash, plug in his harness, plug in OEM harness to that, and run cables down. I put the RCA input down into the passenger side floor area and routed the anytime override switch to driver side so I could flip it easily. I ran the wires for the rear camera anytime switch to the left of steering wheel cubby and wired it to a CH4x4 switch.

Link for harness, not sure if he's still making them:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-navigation-override-smartphone-mirr.501617/

    Media player:
    https://m.aliexpress.com/s/item/32701823979.html?spm=a2g0n.orderList.0.0.77e86780QLljzw&

I also grabbed a cheap RCA 3 way splitter from Amazon so I can eventually hide the media player and hook up a front camera and maybe a smart phone mirror box and just switch between them.

I have a JooVuu X dashcam. Here's it on Amazon for $99bucks. It's an excellent 1080p dash cam that is discrete and matchbox like, and has very good night time recording.
I have it connected to a Vicovation battery discharge prevention device, because it has motion detection based recording as well.
The cool thing about this model is that you can connect to it using a smart phone app, and watch videos, delete clips etc. I bought a go Pro mounting buckle to connect mine to that go pro mounting plate on the windshield and wired it through the liner. It also has a gps and accelerometer on it, which also keeps a record of your speed, location etc (can be turned off). Been using it for about 21 months, and I have no complaints so far.

That one looks great! I grabbed one off Amazon for like $20 but it just seems like mounting is gonna be more of a hassle than it's worth. The threaded portion is really short and the nut that came with it doesn't seem to match up.. I think I'm gonna grab yours.. it looks great fit into the Toyota "T" logo, do you think it'll work on a Pro grill through one of the honeycomb boxes under the "TOYOTA"? It seems like with the longer threaded section it should be pretty straightforward, can't believe I didn't see this one through all my searching a few weeks ago! Really need something for solo runs w no spotting to see over this massive hood.

Really appreciate the dash cam info too. Keep meaning to read up on those whenever I see these smashed up Taco threads. Scary stuff!

@bacon_st do you have a pic of how the dash cam is mounted?

Oil paint pen, can’t remember the brand. I tossed it when I was done because I bent the tip and it was leaking a little bit, but it was only $2 at Walmart. I used simple green than acetone to prep the tires and then just followed the raised edge wth the pen. Took a break in between each tire due to arm fatigue. I may try and do the solid white and the red fill and see what it looks like. It should come off with the acetone if I don’t like it

I totally think so, it easily screws tight and has a back plate to support it. I plan to do that when I replace my grill with the bro grill later on.
Yup. Here you go. I like that my dashcam is inconspicuous. It was a tough choice between mobius dashcam and mine, but JooVuu has all the features I wanted.
