Fall Camp & Ride (Oct. 20-22, 2017)

Gas tank filled, new air filter, wipers, front left caliper, front brake pads, and new LED bumper lights are installed. Might as well get a good head start on the pre-wheeling checklist a week and a half in advance

 

I'm hoping to get my new steering wheel cover by this Friday.

 

Spark plugs,new brakepads,and got some leds for the fog lights coming in

took care of that last weekend. I even splurged and got a room with a jacuzzi lol

 

You know what, I actually really need a steering wheel cover... my steering wheel is in pretty bad shape

 

Ayup. I got two. One with gray stitching for the OGT and one with beige stitching for the T4R. The T4R's wheel is getting a bit rough at the top, but the OGT came with the cover it has now, only it's pretty much shredded ATM, got strips of material hanging off it like a rat's been chewing on it, haha. What, with a nice new steering wheel cover, the OGT will be nigh unstoppable!

 

I have a Momo monte carlo 350mm wheel i could sell. Pretty new. You could get one of those JDM quick release thingys.

 

Todd do it. Go full cage and removable steering wheel.

 

Actually would be a cool upgrade. At least the wheel. Racing buckets, then you need to remove the steering wheel to get in and out. Alright, ill stop. Haha

I’ve got the full cage that’s been sitting in my garage all summer that needs to be installed, and then after that, definitely getting some suspension seats. I can only take about a full day of driving before my back is killing me in these stock seats

 

Ok your doing this after Citrus right?

 

And hopefully after the Annual meet in February as well.

Speaking of...I might have to start thinking about that one as well. Hopefully we didn't wait too long and end up with the campground fully booked all February.

Unless, of course, someone else wants to take the lead on it. It might be nice to just throw my name in the hat and show up for a change, haha.

 

What all does being the ring leader entail? I want to know details before I offer to be ring leader for February

 

Really, it's not that big a deal. Basically it's just a lot of clerical work keeping the OP of the thread updated with the names of people who are attending, their campsite, and who they are sharing with. Plus, providing enough information on the OP to answer most of the FAQs along with the date, location, CB channel, etc... I like to add a couple vids and/or pics from the previous years meet just to help drum up interest. If you like you can just copy the info off the Fall Camp & Ride OP or the 2017 Annual Meet OP, or merge them, since I think there's a lot more information on the Camp & Ride OP for newbies than there is on the 2017 Annual Meet OP.

Also, I normally have a poll to see which weekend the majority of people want to have it on. I usually include the last week in January (because I like having it in January because it's more likely to be cooler, but it usually ends up in February). This year will be a little more work since we'll have to check the Reserveamerica site to see which weekends still have 15 or so campsites available.

As far as the meet itself, there's really nothing much to do since it's not terribly organized, unless Brian's event plans for the Fall Camp & Ride become a huge hit and we want to adopt them as a regular thing with the Annual Meet as well. But that's a whole other kettle of fish.

 

Doesn't sound too bad... Really wouldn't mind doing it for next year or at least helping out

No much bossing around to be done, haha. We're mostly all adults and pretty laid back.

I should say, I don't mind being a trail guide. In fact, I kinda like not being back in the dust cloud. Not sure how good a job I do, but I ain't been fired yet so I must not be doing so badly that someone else feels the need to step up and take over.

That's also part of it too though. Gotta list the trail guides and the groups: Hardcore, Moderate, and Light. The Hardcore group has prerequisites. You gotta be 4WD on 33s or 2WD on 35s minimum and you have to be able to keep up, which means having the skills, guts, and suspension to handle 30 mph on the trails (the published speed limit at Citrus WMA). And you can't be concerned with pinstriping. The Moderate group is pretty much the same as the Hardcore group without the prerequisites and they don't move as fast. The light group is for stockers and newbs that aren't comfortable moving fast and want to avoid pinstriping. The groups are usually only in play on Saturday during the day. The Friday afternoon and night rides are free for all and the Sunday ride is for whoever's left when we hit the trails.
