I'd totally hang with the hardcore group if my Yota weren't my daily. Last time in Citrus it cost me $250 just to rent a trailer and haul the truck back; had to wait about 2-3 weeks before I could even start installing the new suspension. I have the mindset guts (stupidity) and (mostly) rig to be hardcore, just not the wallet. (Plus I'm not a fan of major pinstriping).

 

Haha, unfortunately, more the the most scenic and fun trails are the narrow two trackers where you're dragging bushes and branches down the side of the truck frequently. Honestly, the Hardcore group is a bit of a misnomer. There's nothing really hardcore at Citrus. I can do most of it, with the exception of some of the mud/water holes in 2WD with a rear locker. You just had some bad luck last year. I've heard of people having their LBJ bolts back out early on so I've pretty much always used thread locker and made sure mine are properly torqued every time I have to take them apart and I've never had an issue, even when I wasn't happy with the thread engagement I had on the outer two bolts that came with my new LBJs. I've replaced them with the 35mm bolts (seen below in the "Products Discussed in this Thread") a while ago and I never worry about them now. I haven't broken anything at Citrus for a while now, pretty much since I installed the rear locker since I rarely use 4WD now (knock on wood) and before that, i was only breaking CV axles due to my Lincoln Locker front diff). Now I'm still breaking shit at Hardrock and Redrock and I'll probably lose the passenger side CV axle if I do break anything, but that's not a big deal.

The point being, if you're open/open with radials, I can't imagine you'd damage anything even if you ran with the hardcore group unless you either have bad luck or you go completely nuts and roll the truck doing something ill-advised. If I'm not breaking shit out there being locked on both ends with, as Brian put it, Wolverine claws for tires, you should be fine.

Anyway, if you want to do the organizing for the Annual meet, I would say the first step would be to start the thread and call it "The 2018 Annual Citrus Meet!". Also you'd have to look at the ReserveAmerica site and find out if any weekend in February is too busy then establish a poll so people can vote for which weekend they want. It'd be best to do it sooner rather than later so you can let the pole run for about a week and then have people start making reservations while it's still a ways off. Once you have the thread started and the poll up, I usually hit the regional threads (panhandle, Jacksonville, South Florida, Tampa, etc) and the Florida BS thread and post a link telling people to go vote on their preferred weekend.

 

Will do! And yeah... slowly learning more about the trucks. Didn't know anything about the LBJ bolt issues til then lol. Ended up fixing the issue tapping extended threads and using the 35mm. We will see how I'm feeling about pin stripes and such this trip. I learned a TON about wheeling with a manual trannsmission last trip... Hoping my clutch makes it through this one. It slips when the rpms are going in the sand hills (which I apparently learned was an off-limit area). Won't have time to replace it beforehand lol.

And I'll probably try to look at the reservation map and post up a new thread within the next few weeks

A little secret for people who don't want pinstripes, wax the side of your Truck a few days before, I go down every trail and the worst scratch I have is from the damn carwash. You will be fine
