Well after getting them installed the other day last night I had the first chance to see how good they worked with the factory cover. Great light and well worth it. Thanks to tanabersx!

After removing the nut on the kick panel, what is the next step to remove the panel? Does it just snap near the sill trim?

Before removing the kickpanel, you need to remove the floor plastic piece then remove the nut and pull out the panel off the threads and towards the brake pedal an it should come right out.

Sub'd. I did this installation on my 2014, and lost them when I sold the truck. Bought a new kit for my 2017, here we go again! :)

I am looking at getting these lights soon, my 3rd gen doesn't have the bed lights stock so I don't have the switch. Has anyone bought the factory bed light switch and panel to wiring these up?? I am not very electrically inclined so any deviation from the previously posted instructions and I might as well be trying to do brain surgery...

The access cab(no third brake bed light) is included in the instructions. The only difference is you tap the dome light circuit intead if the bed light circuit. So bed lights will turn on whenever the dome light turns on.

Right, but I want to add the factory switch. I don't want them wired to the dome light. I'd rather be able to do it whenever I wanted. Has anyone done it this way or know where to buy the factory switch/panel?

You can buy the switch and the panel from partznet.com but you are also going to need the wiring harness or at least the connector for the switch the wiring shouldnt be that complicated. One pin for illumination and two other pins for the switched circuit.

I lucked out and had these installed already when I bought my 2017. They definitely had it listed for more than $45 on the invoice though lol.

I'd like to wire some Rigid rock lights that i've got mounted in the bed of my truck to that switch but the wire looks a little skinny for the amps that they'll be drawing (1.2A ea. * 6 lights). Anyone know what the amp draw of the lights in this kit is or what AWG the wire that you tap into is?

If it comes down to it I can wire them to a relay that is switched by the same wire that you tap into in the guide OP posted.

Did the latter; used a tap on the bed light circuit to trigger the relay for my lights.

Any idea how many amps (or watts) these lights draw on the circuit?

I'm thinking of a way to mount a switch in the bed itself. My old truck had the switch right by the light so it was super handy, instead of having to run up to the front to turn them off/on.

Recently installed in my 2016 3rd gen and instead of the ground wire tap in the instructions, i tapped it into another "Ground" that i had used for a prior aftermarket switch (i think the hood scoop lights from SpartanXCustoms). It works (THANK YOU OP), but my front passenger window doesn't go up and down WHEN USING THE DRIVER'S SWITCH (the front passenger switch works).

Any Ideas on what to troubleshoot here?

Is the fact that I used a DIFFERENT ground (than instructed here) the reason? HALP.

Start your own thread on this. It seems you have a FU Master Switch.

That was a slick idea Sir! This way you can set the rock/puddle lights to come on as you open the door, lighting your way. Thanks, I'm going to copy this from you.
