Exact same setup I have. Blues w/ Headstrong Progressive AAL. Originally had just the Sumos with the frame resting on them. Ride was a little harsher than stock, because their was no give between the frame and sumosprings. After adding the AAL last month, the ride is significantly better.

Sweet. Would you recommend replacing the u-bolts? 10k miles, they have been re torqued once with the add a leaf. If so headstrong is probably a good option I assume.

My progressive AAL's came with new u-bolts, because they had to to fit. If you just have a single AAL, then the stock u-bolts should be fine... SumoSprings shouldn't affect them at all.

I'm interested in getting these on top of a AAL but with a rear lift wouldn't I just end up with a sag under load due to the lift? I occasionally haul up to 6-700 lbs and mainly looking to help the rear from sagging in those situations.
Would a set of Timbrens with their 1/2" or 1" spacers be a better option?

Yes, stock pack with aal. Good call on toytec, I need to see their new digs anyway.

My understanding is having a slight gap will provide a better ride unloaded. I won't prevent sag completely, but should greatly minimize it, especially with a 700lb load. I'll report back once I'm set up. Swiftks just chimed in on this, he's happy with the performance.

I had the dealer install the sumos when I got the new tsb leafs and it defiantly raised the rear up and even unloaded sat touching the frame. On rough potholed you could feel the road in the rear but it also gave no body roll. Once ya get weight 200+ it smothes out.

Right now I've got them on with all pro standard leaf pack and it's a wonderful setup.

I removed mine before going to the dealer. I gotta say the ride is much better without them. I probably will end up bagging it in the future.

Installed a set of SumoSprings this morning. As everyone has indicated, 1/2 hour job. Happy with the results. Rear-end lifted 5/8" each side. I didn't notice any real difference in the ride or handling.

Thanks OP for the write up!

Just kidding. You guys still having good luck running these? I traded the 16 I had that these were installed on and didn't take the springs off. Long story that ends in sad and disappointment so we won't go there. Anyway, I'm looking for some help with the 17 I have now and going back and forth between Sumos again or a WDH. I know these are stiff unloaded but do a great job when loaded. Just curious how yours held up over the past year.

@OffsetPlayer2 I tow a 3k camper with my tacoma and an equalizer WDH. It works great, but I plan to install my sumo springs next Tuesday and test them on a trip to Moab at the end of week. While the WDH does great it still sags a bit. I typically have a couple bikes and gear back there when I am towing.

So am I reading correctly that these don't have an internal air bladder, they are basically just high compression foam? Anyone tried trimming off the top half of the 1st ripple? Thinking about getting a set of these but would like to retain factory ride quality when un-loaded. Seems like shortening it down a bit would allow the rear suspension to act normally till compression occurred.
