This is wishful thinking as there is no way to time limit a tune. Your best bet is to find someone close by who has the tune that will allow you to take the truck for a spin. I can vouch for the tune as the best money I've spent on the truck to date. I have 1.02C-Shift A 87 Octane installed and it has completely transformed the truck. The transmission shift points and throttle response is unbelievable and the truck now feels extremely peppy verses the slug it once felt like. You will not be disappointed and this is how the truck should have come from the factory.

I trust everyones opinion on the tunes. It would just be nice to give it a whirl before jumping the gun.

I came from driving a turbo VW and was able to get a couple trial tunes before purchasing one. So it's worth a shot I suppose.

If anyone in here is from Vancouver BC Please chime in! I'd love to see how the tune performs.

we are also out of stock on dongles now. now back to the normal 2-4 week time frame on shipping for new orders.
This sells out FAST. If you're on the fence, the longer you wait the further back in line you'll be.

Just chiming in - loaded 1.02C option A 87 Octane over the weekend (still have 91 octane in the tank though) and the difference between this and the 91 octane map feel minimal. Looks like I'll be sticking with the 87 Tune!

I have about 120 miles on 1.02C_Shift-A (91) and agree with all you've said. Plus I'll add that my engine/exhaust (stock) just seems to sound better. I can't say why.. but I don't think it's my imagination. I just hope that all this good stuff has staying power, and the "learning" process doesn't make it all disappear.

Ends up being $1031 Canadian. Just put in the order so I guess I'll see it in 2-4 weeks depending on the border.

I asked this question a while back myself. OVtune has stated there is no way for Toyota to know. I'm a skeptic by nature, and my experience with Ford was they could, which if nothing else, told me it is possible to track flashes. OV has stated there is no flash counter and whether Toyota can or not hasn't shaken out with anybody's real world experience. I have no reason to discount OVtunes statement. Honestly I've been hanging back watching this from the cheap seats. I want to do this because I hate the AT. Still on the fence for a bit though. I haven't read anybody complaining it wasn't worth it yet. That says quite a bit about the gains.

Does this retune fix the cruise control issues at all?

I've not had cruise control issues to speak of, probably because it's flat here.. no mountains, no hills, only bridges and overpasses. That said, prior to the tune in cruise it would often downshift to 4th on bigger bridges, and then seem to stay in 4th or 5th for longer than necessary after cresting the bridge. Now with the tune it only drops to 5th, and goes back to sixth as soon as the bridge is crested.

You're lucky man, I know many other 3rd gen owners know what I'm talking about. Any freeway in Socal, my truck does horrible in cruise control, it just shifts down and goes into high rpms and shifts back to the higher gear in a decent rpm level. it does this sequentially every few seconds, its ridiculous.
