One more. When ever I clean or get into a t-body I put one tiny drop of engine oil where each end of the throttle plate shaft enters the interior sides of the bore.

 

Had a mechanic look at everything with me and there is a good bit of play in the plate. I didn’t notice at first. Looks like a new tb is needed or getting mine bored.

 

Visit your local wrecking yard or Pick-N-Pull and pull one off a wrecked 1st Gen Tacoma or 3rd Gen 4runner.

Read here, when my truck did this it was the TB cylinder wall that was worn
in respect to the butterfly gap. Ended up finding a used one that took a month to find at a reasonable price, but if I had known about this website would have gone that route

Yup.

 

If you go look for a used one, these TB are very specific to the truck options, not universal, not like a battery or steering pump, will depend on
if it's an auto, 5 speed, v6, cruise control, and one other option I think also.
There is a number stamp on the TB that will indicate the model, make sure it's the same number

I had a similar problem. Ended up being the throttle body. You have a lot of options when looking at replacing, there are 4runners that will fit as well. I picked mine up on ebay for $60. Found a seller and made an offer that they accepted.

 

How can you tell if the used one that you are buying doesn't have the same gap issue?

 

You can’t. But there are a couple vendors with a three month warranty. For me it was a gamble and was worth it to fix my shitty TB problems.

Had mine bored and a new butterfly.

No gaps anymore anywhere.

He actually puts the whole throttle body in an ultrasonic cleaning tank too.

need my throttle body done as well where would i go to have that done on my throttle body??
as well as my dashpot/throttle opener is blown cant find any part number please help.
