Used the great information here to do a full flush, gasket and filter replacement of the auto transmission in my 2nd gen V6. My mileage is 138k. I had done one drain and fill previously. The pan looked ok, no sign of excessive metal shavings. I didn't have any issues with my auto trans prior to change.

Used the pump sprayer technique. I did the transmission temperature fill check by jumping the wires. Was very easy.

The whole process went very smooth.

Did you use 3/8” clear hose tubing?

How do you attach to the sprayer?
Does the sprayer pump out everything you put in it?

When i did mine i didn't use the sprayer method. The 3/8" tubing connects right over the end and can get pumped out. I then routed the extra tubing i had from the transmission fill hole up to the engine bay and gravity fed through a funnel back in how much i'd pump out each time. You could probably use 1/2" ID tubing to refill to make the process go a little faster. 1/2" won't fit the end to pump out though.

The sprayer pumps in the new fluid, the other piece of tubing is attached to the outflow from the transmission coooler and the old fluid flows out of it.

Currently waiting on my 14qts of fluid and filter to come in so I can do this as well. Just hit 100k and Im doing gear oils, coolant, and transmission fluid. Did you mark out quart lines on the milk just and sprayer bottle? The only thing I am worried about it is not replacing enough fluid as I take out and jumping the wires to get the trans light to come on

Which wires exactly did you jump and what was the sequence to let you know when to open the fluid check plug?

A manual is a totally different beast (in an easy way). There's two bolts you undo on the tranny. One to drain it and one to full it, just like our diffs.

On an auto the fluid is there to keep it cool whereas ours is just gear oil to keep it lubricated. Much simpler.

The auto tranny is hydraulicly actuated, so it is hydraulic fluid.

would you still recommend changing the fluid on the manual ? 133k miles. Could have possibly been changed from toyota before i purchased it.

Yes I would. Replace it with redline MT90 and you'll be happy you did! Also replace the crush washers. It takes about 20 minutes to do.

Have you ever changed the oil in the differentials before?

What are the torque specs on the tranny filter? I know 39 Inch/lbs for the tranny pan, but I can find anything about the filter unit.

    6 inch lift. 35's.
Is the tranny sucking fluid out of the sprayer as it dumps it into the jug?
