Yes, lock out 6th so you only have the one OD. The difference at highway speeds is only about 300 RPM. I have checked my mileage and there is no appreciable difference between using 6th or just 5th. It sucks to have to do this, but if you are sick of multiple downshifts to get to a non OD gear, eliminate one of the OD's. I played with it quit a bit recently and am now just flat out confused on what the point of 2 OD's is. The V6 feels smoother in 6th, but its only turning like 1400 rpm at highway speeds.

Enough about that though, tell us more about this shaving forum. Tell me its straight razors and badger brushes, not which 19 bladed disposable is best type stuff.

LOL! My buddy has a Mercedes AMG with 610 hp and it hunts for gears doing 80mph across the flat desert! We live in the mpg era folks.

If S mode operated like a flappy paddle shifter instead of a gear limiter it would be fantastic! I am still hoping one of these geniuses making the SSP or OVtune will come out with that product. That is one that I would buy in a heartbeat.

Dang! I am getting 20 plus easy in my 4x4. Something has to be wrong with those numbers or is that stop and go type stuff?

Everyone lives in different areas. I live in high altitude with lots of steep mountain inclines. Some dude at sea level where its flat could very well get substantially better fuel mileage. To each his own. Im also running 285’s

I understand the science behind it for sure. I had a feeling it might be better. The 285’s help even it out some I’m sure. Thanks for the info!

I know you guys will scoff at this but... we have a Subaru forester XT touring with the WRX turbo motor and CVT trans and its the BEST motor/trans combo Ive had in a very long time. amazing torque and HP with seamless response from the cvt which can also be paddle shifted with 6 or 8 programmed "speeds".

Of course that is going to run smoother. It's a Lexus and a car. Not even same category. To me u have to compare the tacoma to frontier ridgeline or the colorado. And if u want a bed still the ridgeline drives much like a car or the Lexus you bought. Also if go as far as throwing in all full size trucks to compare with tacoma and the other midsize if size of truck being bigger is ok or preferable. I know the 15 tundra I had was real nice but I do not want big truck any more and much prefer mid. My colorado had been great and we will see how the 18 tacoma does when I get it. I know nothing is perfect.

I won't scoff. I like my Tacoma but I'm hardly running under the impression that Toyota is infallible and other manufacturers can't make superior things.

Snag a Ridgeline, you'll love it.
