Honestly, I don't remember if it was a video or write-up. I found it while looking up "installing speakers in 2016 toyota tacoma" or something like that and I found a few links that helped me. It may have been under one w/ the cross-over info (like you are wanting), so try there. From what I remember, they had some good pics of the finished product and it looked like everything fit rather well up under the dash as they suggested. I did not have the need to do the cross-over stuff as I was just adding the speakers, but I like to try to get a good idea of how to do something before I really take things apart.

The main reason on the Kickers here was due to the huge sale they had when this thread started. You can go w/ whatever you want at this point. I used JBLs and I love them. They were more efficient, but did not have as much low end response as the Kickers. I don't "thump" like I used to, so just needed to have decent sound overall and I was worried that the head unit would not push inefficient speakers well.

I think the tweeter for the 2nd gen is in the top RH corner of the door (if equiped).

yeah I'm sure there are other speakers that work well too. Sale aside, I went Kicker based on recommendation in the forums and based on the WOW I got from the Kicker/Subbie tweeters so decided just to make it a Kicker set. I guess I've been under a rock but I'd never used Kicker products until this upgrade but I'm a yuge fan now, clearly.

Okay so I spent my evening in my tiny garage installing my Infinity door speakers front and rear. 2015 Tacoma DC.

I wasn't able to do my tweeters or crossovers due to time and need for mounting brackets.

That said, I do notice a difference. Listening to different types of music via Bluetooth with my Entune head unit. Although I can tell there is a GREAT need for more Highs (the factory tweeters are USELESS) I can hear the mids a lot better.

For example, the Vikings theme song (If I Had a Heart by Fever Ray) sounds way better. This used to be all bass and the voice and instruments were nearly invisible audibly. The voice is now clear and I can here the instruments!!

Disturbed sounds better, Metallica sounds better, Five Finger Death Punch, Bassnector....

Interestingly the bass (powered by Alpine amp and 2 x 10" Kicker Comp-D woofers) sounds better too.

    Some photos:

The sound barriers on the front doors was fairly impressive. Though they only cover holes on the inner skin. The large void at the bottom of the door has foam blocks and plastic with pyramid shapes. Way more than i expected to find!

    20171103_221330.jpg

The magnet on the tweeters is HUGE. But placing my ear on the tweeter it barely outputs anything more than static. Useless.

    20171103_220917.jpg

Rear speaker magnet versus the new speakers. Seriously the useless tweeters have bigger magnets!!

    20171103_195322.jpg

There is a grommet on the rear doors you can pop out to route speaker wires.

Factory sound proofing on rear door panels.

I just finished reading this entire thread. Only took a few days haha. I am very interested in upgrading my sound system. I am also pretty OCD and anal about things, so I plan on taking my time and being super careful with everything! Probably gonna order everything today. I am thinking of doing the sound deadening with weather strip in between the speakers/mounts and mounts/doors.

    A few questions:

Since everybody seems to be having issues with the front mounting brackets not lining up with the speaker mounting holes, is there another option as far as brackets that will actually line up all holes without having to alter anything? I wouldn't mind spending a bit more to get a product that I don't have to try to rig up.

Also, when doin the sound deadening, are all of you guys just putting it on the actual door itself only? After reading through this thread some posts have me wondering if some of you guys put sound deadening on the door panel as well (the plastic panel that actually gets removed from the door). Maybe a dumb question, I just want to be sure before I start ordering all this stuff.

I will probably have more questions as I attempt to tackle this project. I am pretty mechanically inclined (I like to think lol) but I'm certainly no expert at audio systems, and I have never taken a door apart. I just worry about breaking some interior plastic stuff, especially since my truck is only a couple months old. I appreciate any and all responses!

Everything I used (no deadening) from post 112 of the following thread worked fine for me

Nice! So by getting those mounts separately instead of using the ones they throw in for free, you had no issues of holes lining up?
Also, why did you have to get the harnesses separately? I thought if you order from crutchfield they give you the harness adapters for free also?

I bought my speakers and everything back in April. Bought everything separately at BestBuy and Ebay. Did not get tweeters until July 4th.

I didn't put any sound deadening on the plastic door panels. I did put sound deadening on the inside of the outer door metal panel. At least the part of it that I could reach.

I had no issues w/ the mounting brackets that they provided. The only issue I had was with the screws that came w/ the speakers being too long on the rears. I had to dig up some shorter screws to mount the speakers to the bracket.

I’m trying to understand why there are so many issues w/ the mounting brackets as I had little to no issues. The only thing I had to modify (and the instructions noted this) was that if my speakers (on the 6.5” rears) was a bit too large, I would need to snip off the little clips on the inner diameter of the mounting bracket. I did that and no issues getting any of the holes to match up.

Thanks for the response. That's what I was thinking. I'm gonna put it everywhere I can on the actual door, and inside the holes where the speakers mount up

True... that is probably the reason my experience is different. My JBLs had a lot of mounting holes that I could use so I just matched it up fine.

Those speakers are out of stock now I guess from best buy. Looks like they were a bit different than the OP. I'm trying to use the op speakers, and wondering if I ordered the same mounts that you got if they would still work for me. I don't know what to do lol I'm just trying to avoid having any issues

I did the same, but you have to work around a crash bar that is right behind the speaker holes. You can get a little sound deadening above and below, but that is about it.

I'm on the fence about trying to buy my own mounts or just going with the ones they include for free
