Does anyone know whether the RA60 and the RC62F are interchangeable?

Okay, I don't know if this has been asked or not because I hate playing catch up in new threads....

Is there any option out there for a SLOWER reverse gear for the MT? That ratio is too fast to be effective when backing a trailer. All I want is to be able to back it up a slight incline without cooking the clutch!

In case anyone is wondering, its a 3200lb single axle tent trailer.

    You got two options:

    Small but involved electrical mod:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/lock-stock-and-2wheel-low-3rd-gen-diy-mod.536677/

    And, manual hubs:

    No problem.

That will be my starting point once I get a mesojdm switch panel. I do feel an urge for the manual hubs down the road if I ever get a nice bonus.

My brother just asked.... why not put a front hitch on? He might be on to something, but I'm having trouble figuring out the GAWR for the front axle. Tongue weight of the trailer is easy... I think. But I want to make sure the front axle can handle it.

I just use 4lo on my manual when I'm backing a trailer up a hill. I purposely now do everything I can to minimize backing but I still have to do it sometime. Level or downhill is no problem. Uphill is when it gets put in 4lo.

Right. Problem is that it is slightly uphill and over some large gravel with a slight turn to get this 3200 lb. camper to its resting spot between my house and the neighbor's RV when not in use.

Also, fun fact: The MT will do 25mph@ 4k rpm in reverse.

Reverse always feels twice as fast.

Nice idea, but that's a lot of mod. Way more expensive that the electrical mod and probably not far off from those slick hubs.

$260 for a bolt on, no cutting front hitch that won't void the warranty.

That is one that is going to be very visible and kill approach angle. I was thinking of something more like this:
    http://mobtownoffroad.com/product/3rd-gen-tacoma-front-recovery-bar/

I thought that one was more expensive but does require some cutting.

I don't do any extreme off roading so approach angle isn't a concern. Also, I have an Avid off road guard that would get in the way of that hidden one.

    So funny story...

I went to try the "just back it up in 4lo" option the other day.

I switched to 4hi, and then when I attempted to go into lo, the 4lo light kept blinking and beeping at me. I thought that maybe i just needed to let it roll a bit more to engage, but it didn't. However, when I put her in gear and engaged the clutch, she was most definitely in 4lo. When I tried to go back to 4hi and 2wd, i got the 2wd/4wd switch error.

After a brief panic attack, I got it to get back into 2hi. I then tempted fate and tried again. This time, everything worked.

Needless to say, with this potential issue, I will NOT be doing the electrical mod. I have since practiced reversing the camper in 4lo. I will stick with that method for now.
